Ok i see. I still think it’d be useful if @jamiefranklinf1 posted his speeds. Because electrolite’s look pretty good for hosting. If jamie does it then we see he has 20 download and only 0.5 upload then it’s clear who we should choose.
Im thinking differently i guess. I want a safe option for the last race. Anwyay, im sure it’ll be fine ;)

May I ask that we get through this finale as quickly as we can, and if possible start a few mintues early. If we can finish before 1pm that would be great as I have to go around that time. I’m now hoping more than ever for a dry race.

Well if I don’t hear anything, I’ll send out invites at 11:25 ish. Might be be better to avoid anyone being missed out/confusion. I don’t think speed has everything to do with it – I think it’s more server and location based.

Hurray for no internet fails! More or less everyone raced brilliantly today and we were all extremely close on pace. It could have ended in many orders! I could see the whites of the podium’s eyes towards the end when @aus_steve and @sato113 collided, and whilst they were recovering, my car was clipped gently enough to send me back down 6th!

I was trying maybe a bit too hard not to hit anyone at the start, but to be honest, I just had to! I remember touching @slr ‘s back end at one point and slowing down so he could go back through, but totally forgetting about mag who appeared behind me, which almost got very messy. Great, clean battle with Steve in the middle of the race.

Shame the rain never came (which led to Jamie’s pitstop) but this season has been epic and I thank you all.

A welcome return by @magnificent-geoffrey (if if you did appear out of literally nowhere in lap 1!). Dominant win by @commonmonsoon and congratulations again to @JamieFranklinF1, our champion.

    Started 7th, finsihed 11th.

Started very strongly, keeping pace with @slr and @sato113 as they had a great scrap for 2nd, but I spun off at the Senna-S after putting a wheel on the grass after Slr went off. After that, things went from bad to worse, as none of my option tyres would last for even 10 laps. The bright spot was setting fastest lap for a while, but otherwise, it was a bad race, nowhere near as good as my Winter Series race earlier this morning.

It was a fun season, and it’ll be a long wait now until the 4th season :)

In terms of my race performances I’ve had a miserable season and my race today compounded that misery. After taking the lead at the start I was doing well up until Sato passed me, after that my pace just disappeared. After around lap 20, everyone was doing 1.12s whilst I was still doing late 1.13s/low1.14s.

@bradley13 I’m sorry for our incident. When you went of at turn 5 I tried to pass on the following straight but it was tight gap and I was trying to pass you without going off the track, unfortunately I went right into the side of you and got a penalty. Sorry.

Season 3 has been a great season, even if I drove awful. I look forward next season and the GT5 sessions inbetween. Well done to @JamieFranklinF1 again for winning the title and thanks to everyone who took part for doing their bit to make this another successful season.

good race. kept it safe at the start as @electrolite missed the braking point and took someone out. @commonmonsoon took to the grass so I was in 2nd right behind @slr on the first straight. we had a great battle but monsoon overtook both of us. I was in 2nd for a while but fell back into @shyguy1992 ‘s clutches after the pit phase. @aus-steve also got me late on after spinning me (which helped as it slowed him and electrolite as I scampered off!) 4th not good enough though to beat electro in the standings. still 4th overall is great for my first season.

annoyingly it could have been a win as the 3 guys who usually disconnect were the 3 who finished infront of me!!! congrats JF-F1 on the title.

Actually, @sato113, when we drop the worst result, you’re dead even with @Electrolite! Now, everyone, how do we count this back? Highest finishing position? Highest lowest finish? HALP!

  • Profile picture of electrolite electrolite said 2 months, 3 weeks ago:

You should calculate by who is ahead before you take the worst result out, if you ask me! :P

Well, another Collantine Cup season is done and dusted. Where did the winter go? As fun as it racing with you guys, I really haven’t got a clue when it comes to this game, and if anything I think I’ve been worse this year than last. Perhaps I should have used the wheel more, though I really felt it didn’t work at all well with this game, even after playing with the settings. I also don’t feel like I’ve had that “happy bubble” around me this year to paraphase another McLaren driver…

Today was a fairly typical performance. Didn’t really get it together in qualifying (apologies if I ruined your last lap Mag – I was trying to quit out) but even if I had I doubt I would have been much further up the grid. Made a decent start, but then suddenly CATERHAM and that was that. Always risky being on the outside of course though. Always risky being anywhere at the start to be fair!

Didn’t even realise Steve was behind me (assumed I was last) until the proximity indicator came up. Didn’t want to put up too much of a fight, and really hope we didn’t make contact that appeared to put Steve into a spin. Difficult to tell with the lag. It wasn’t too long till he caught up and flew (almost literally) by on the start/finish. I then lost more time with another spin after Jamie recovered to the track. This let Silver Keg back through, but he went off a lap later.

Knowing I’m terrible with tyres I planned two stops, but even then still managed to stay out a lap too long as usual, spinning twice and letting Silver Keg and Spud by. Being last and stopping early is not a great situation. My stint on primes was pretty quiet for 12 laps, passing only Spud when he came into the pits and David on lap 19 – though I didn’t even see him as he was somewhere off track.

The gap ahead to Silver Keg was pretty static for most of the time, but as he turned his engine down I did the opposite, and then I think an error closed the gap right up. I was quicker through the infield, but he was faster on the straights so we had a good scrap which was briefly interrupted with Damon coming through to lap us. With all this going on I completely forgot to use DRS. I rarely get the chance to do so, so it wasn’t really on my mind, plus I thought it was on the start/finish anyway. I’m not sure it would have actually helped that much though. I did eventually get by though.

After opening a bit of a gap, I came in for a second set of options on lap 30. No pace for a FL attempt this time! I also got shot by Fatboy Slim’s laser weapon on lap 32, putting me into a spin!

    Video should be here shortly:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cEaJh2hcCI

So that was that. No 7th place unfortunately but I can’t say I deserved it.

Congratulations to Jamie on the championship again, and many thanks to everyone who has helped organised it and everyone for being good sports!

GT5 – Not sure what you guys were thinking of? I was thinking of something pretty informal – just sorting out a time when everyone can get on for some shuffle races? Or if we can agree on a PP and a track we can maybe put something else together? If there’s a demand we could also sort out a championship of some kind, though I gather that a ReallyRubbishRacing sanctioned series may be on the way?

I just want to say, that race, thanks majorly to @slr & @magnificent-geoffrey was quite possibly one of the best I have ever been involved in.

    Quali – 7th
Went out straight away and banged in 2 or 3 laps on Primes just to get a solid starter but really hooked up the second lap and ended up 6th ahead of a lot of Option runners. Being majorly confident of being a second quicker on the Options I went out with a massive head and just made tons of mistakes. I ruined my first run completely as I slipped to 9th and on my second run found a measly few tenths to pull me back up to 7th. On my final lap I was 4 tenths up on my PB in S1 but went wide at turn 4 and then spun on the infield section and completely ruined any chance i had of being higher.

    Race – 7th (9th after Penalties)
Got a great start as I headed into turn 1 behind the top 4 who were four abreast. It looked like Damon and Steve connected and then Steve catapulted into the air (on my screen anyway) and I was able to avoid everything to move into third. A few laps later I was up with Shyguy and he went slightly wide into turn 1. I hadn’t intended to overtake him there and then but found myself braking late and slithering up the inside, only for him to turn (to make the corner). I just clipped his rear end and took us both round. Luckily he was able to recover fairly quickly from this but as I rejoined it happened to be right in front of Jamie. I didn’t feel contact but the next thing I knew I saw Jamie flying off behind me and I’m sure I LAG hit him, so sorry buddy. I had a few incidents including being spun off slightly by Jamie (payback ;) haha) and spun myself. I basically just feel down the field. Then I pitted, and it all kicked off. I’m sure more happened than what I remember but I had fantastic fights with @slr and @magnificent-geoffrey. It started with slr. We were side-by-side and fighting for god knows how many laps until one lap I was able to pass him and start pulling away. I than began catching @electrolite by nearly a second a lap until I made a mistake at turn 4 and lost the few seconds I’d gained over slr. He went up the inside of turn 5 and we were side by side going up the narrow straight. He flicked ever so slightly right but as we were so close (both trying to stay off the grass) it flung me off the track. I rejoined in front of Mag and this began a titanic battle. We were passing each other with DRS every other lap and in other places and it was so close. It’s one of the best battles I’ve ever had online. Aside from that the only things that stood out were the slight incident and the comical moment on the final lap. The incident was just unlucky. We were side-by-side between turns 6 & 7 and just touched which put me across the grass. I passed mag off track, so let him back through and then proceeded on, and then came the final lap. We both wanted DRS so basically both stopped before the DRS line trying to get the other across first. Eventually Mag shoved me over the line so I floored it and he couldn’t react quick enough to make it effective :P

A rather unsuccessful but thoroughly enjoyable return to the Cup for me. I’ve missed racing so much this winter and it was great to come back, even if I had no pace compared to the rest of you.

Here’s my story of the race. All in glorious HD.
