Lol, I am very sorry for that incident @magnificent-geoffrey, though you’ll see when I upload my video that I was on the left, and then I think Bradley tried to come in between us, and we were both smashed into the wall :P

But anyway, my race report will be here tomorrow, thanks again everyone, it’s been a great season, a lot of fun :D I guess it was a good thing that I decided to join late after all!

@commonmonsoon oh yeah i forgot about that best 7 results thing. surely we base it on number of wins, then number of 2nd places (ie. official f1 rules). I have 1 2nd place he has none i think. @magnificent-geoffrey ?

    @magnificent-geoffrey & @JamieFranklinF1 – How did I forget that incident… let me explain…
You both exited the corner fairly slowly with a gap between you, and I had a full bar of KERS, which I deployed. Noticing the gap, I went for it, and just about squeezed my Caterham between you both… until we all tried to take the same piece of track :P

Also, when I gifted you 9th Mag, it looks like I went as far off as Kimi! But actually I didn’t… that was when Jamie hit me :P

When I first passed you with DRS as well Mag, I used all my KERS too, so it was easier than it should have been haha

Sorry about lap 33 Mag, nice of you to avoid contact :P haha

I have to say… I longingly await the day I can have another battle of that quality :D

    Dear Everyone,

Another season has finished. Once again, I have been boggled at the speed of pretty must everyone else on the grid this year. I’ll never understand how you guys can go so fast! To make myself feel better, I like to think that I’m as good at playing Fallout 3, as all you guys are at the F1 games. :P

Anyway, I’d just like to say a few words. Worry not, it’ll not be like a speech from the Oscars or anything like that though. I’m not that eloquent. :P

Firstly, thanks go to @magnificent-geoffrey for trusting myself and @silverkeg to run this most, prestigious championship. I’m pretty pleased we were able to get the show on the road.

Thanks also goes to @commonmonsoon who done that completely wicked opening post, finishing times and scores and things, with his fancy html tags. I still don’t know how to work them. :S

A mention goes to all the new guys who took to the grid this year too. Clean fair racing all round (mostly), and worthy additions to the grid I think, especially @jamiefranklinf1 who is a very worthy Champion. Congratulations again Jamie. You done good, so you did!

Many thanks go to my team mate @jonnyw360f1 , for without his help, Lotus would never have beaten Mclaren to “The Wooden Spoon”!!! :D

    …..”wait, what?” …… “Oh, we didn’t beat them, did we not?”… “Oh….”

    Moving swiftly along……..

I think I’d like to thank my internet connection. It has actually allowed me to finish all the races I took part in, except for the ones where I was interrupted by my sister calling for lunch, or by my camera falling over and then running out of memory……

From my own point of view, I think I’ve become a better backmarker than I was last year. To be quite honest, I really should have been in a HRT. It would have suited me better probably. :P I did do my best to scrap for the remaining points that were on offer, while not trying to block championship contenders, and other much faster drivers than myself. Hopefully I wasn’t too much of a moving chicane!

I look forward to doing it all over again next year. In the meantime, @supernicebob has mentioned doing some GT5 races. I’d love it if we could arrange a few of these. I feel *way* more at home with that game, to the point where I’ve been switching off driver aids and using manual gears. The Le Mans 24 Laps was brilliant last year, and some races along the same lines would be really good fun.

Anyway, I’ve waffled a bit there, so I’ll shut up now. Take care you guys.

So, I was just watching back the footage of Bradley and me battling towards the end of the race, when I realised that my car only had one wing mirror – on the right hand side.

I thought, ‘that’s odd! Why would they only model one wing mirror on the Sauber?’. Then I realised that I had one on the left hand side of the cockpit at the start of the race and that it actually came off during my big crash on Lap 7! So wing mirrors can break off in this game, who knew?

And you @thespuditron pleasure racing with you always, whether you were at the back of the field or not!

I have to be happy with this season, regardless of my multiple first lap incidents – as I’ve still made a decent improvement! I’m not quite sure I would have been where I was had the likes of Ed, Steve and Mag been permanent fixtures, but considering I spent the season qualifying well, then driving from the back of the field regardless, it’s made for the most fun races yet, to be honest! Low points have to be throwing away a podium in Korea, colliding with Bradley at Suzuka and colliding with Damon at La Source with a clear track in front of me! Let alone the amount of disconnects we had during the whole season. But considering the pace of @commonmonsoon and @JamieFranklinF1 on this game I was mostly running as well as I could have hoped throughout.

Thankyou everyone for this year. Attendance was great the whole season, even if disconnects meant finishers weren’t as high. Big thanks to @Spud and @CommonMonsoon for organising this year with me and to @Electrolite for hosting.

I could never get to grips with this game and actually went worse than last year, but it was just as fun. Well done to everyone who was much better than me, especially our first ever British and rookie champion @JamieFranklin Big thankyou to @Shyguy1992 who got Williams out of last place and for finishing a race! :P

I would love to do some GT5 races with you lot too. Like Spud, I am much more comfortable with that game.

I’d also be up for some GT5 stuff.

Thanks all for a great season especially those who posted the results and time gaps here after the races and updated the tables. My first season got off to a slow and nervous start, but as my confidence grew my results became better. a consistent average of 4th place per race meant I ended up 3rd overall. very please with that. it seems my main rivals this season were @electrolite and @slr . I had some great battles with many other people too. i owe a lot to keeping it calm through the first corner and using the chase cam to avoid danger! thanks @alfie for being a great team mate. you are just as fast if not faster than me. would like to team up in our next season.

as a final gift I have my Interlagos race edit on its way! for some reason yooutube says it;s an unsupported file format when i upload? even though i always use that format (.wmv) hmmm.

  • Profile picture of sato113 sato113 said 2 months, 2 weeks ago:

Here it is: after quickly cutting off @electrolite off the line, I had good fights with @slr @bradley13 @shyguy1992 @aus_steve and @commonmonsoon

  • Profile picture of Silverkeg Silverkeg said 2 months, 2 weeks ago:

@Sato113 That video was actually really entertaining. You had some great battles. Your first laps look like awesome fun with slr (Master of Defence) and Damon

Glad you enjoyed your first season in the Collantine Cup. See you in November for Season IV ;)

  • Profile picture of Magnificent Geoffrey Magnificent Geoffrey said 2 months, 2 weeks ago:

Yeah, it’s probably time for me to admit that the reason I missed so many races this year wasn’t because of work, but because I was in counseling receiving treatment for PTSD after being stuck behind slr for all of Season Two.

  • Profile picture of Slr Slr said 2 months, 2 weeks ago:

I’ll get my video up soon, Friday will likely be the earliest as I’ve got to study for a stupid exam at uni on Thursday. :(

  • Profile picture of Common Monsoon Common Monsoon said 2 months, 2 weeks ago:

Study study study! Well, not really. But still, things. So, like @slr, my video/race review will be up soon with any luck.

Seeing as we originally due to have the final race this coming weekend, how would everybody be set for some GT5 shuffle action at 1100 GMT on Sunday? I gather that this would rule out @aus_steve and @commonmonsoon though so if they can suggest another time they could make it we could look at that too? Would be good to have a few races as Collantine Cup drivers, and then maybe extend the invite for future events?

Good to have a clear video from @magnificent-geoffrey again, though it appears that car collisions sound like gunshots and the engine turns off during pit-stops? I like the songs on the grid though – nice touch!
