Brilliant stuff Damon! Thanks for that.
So pleased to see how smooth everything looked for you even in Tazzie. Also, really impressed with some of the driving in that video too. All of the newcomers really seem to ‘get’ the Collantine Cup spirit and it looks like we’ve got a good clean bunch here – so well done everyone. I can’t wait for the real thing now!
@vho It’s a great idea and, as Damon’s pointed out, it’s been suggested multiple times before. However, I personally don’t like the idea myself. First of all, I don’t think it’s really workable. As I’ve designed the Collantine Cup to be an annual thing (because I think that makes it more special and exciting that way) the reality is that not everyone will be able or will want to join in each year, so a promotion/relegation system wouldn’t really work.
Secondly, this is a community-based series and not really a performance-based one. Ned and Irishlad may not have been fighting for wins last year, but they were just as big a part of the series as Damon and I were. It’s sad that they won’t be able to join us again this year and I wouldn’t have wanted them to be booted out of the league and replaced if they had been able to return just because they were ‘relegated’. I like to go hard and enjoy winning as much as the next guy, but the most fun I had last year came from having hard, clean and fair battles with others. I would honestly prefer finishing 10th every race after having some exciting battles than winning every race from Pole Vettel style.
Like Damon also points out, the ‘F1F World Championship 2011′ and related series run pretty much non-stop throughout the year. So if people want to join the Collantine Cup but haven’t been able to secure a place, I’d remind them to check out the many other leagues being organised on here as I’m sure there are plenty of spare places available.
