Finally got round to sorting out my video. Unfortunately it’s not too exciting, and mostly highlights the lag issues.
I made a good start off the line, but started to drop back, and then as soon as Brooklands on the first lap the Silverkeg I was seeing was all over the place. I got by Shyguy on lap 2, but then had the recovering Mag behind me and both he and Ed got by when I out-braked myself at Brooklands. Next Shyguy was behind me, and I again out-braked myself, this time at Vale. Shyguy came through, we made contact and I spun off. This was to be a disappointing end for me in our championship battle.
This let Silverkeg through, and you can see him apparently having a big crash in front of the main grandstand opposite the pits as I get back under way. All sorts of nonsense ensued for the next few laps, including me getting a text message. This carried on till my first pit stop at the end of lap 5 (with my text alert noise repeating).
Silverkeg stopped a lap later and came back out in front of me and the madness resumed. A hefty collision at Brooklands was followed by another at the Arena hairpin, which earned me a penalty despite no actual harm coming to Silverkeg. Fearing more penalties if this continued, I had to back off a bit and make some space for clean racing.
I took the opportunity during my second stop at the end of lap 16 to address the text message and make a quick phone call. With options on and the engine turned up I tried to mount an attack on Silverkeg, but ended up pushing too hard and making too many mistakes. It’s a shame as the lag seemed to be better this time around. I was then hoping to build a gap big enough to Spud to negate my penalty, which mostly thanks to his battle with David I was.
Bit of a disappointing end to the season for me really. Didn’t help that I was pretty hung over also, but I can only blame myself for that. As I said on Sunday, it’s been great to be a part of this and I’ve really enjoyed myself. Massive thanks to everyone involved but especially Mag for organising it all, and congratulations once again to Steve!
