You just said it happened it practice, so you tried it again! Anyway, it doesn’t matter. I still managed to beat you in the Championship without exploiting glitches. ;)

It certainly wasn’t planned though. I was hoping he’d pit a lap later! We got lucky. Simple as that. :P

@Damonsmedley I have been over my video a few times and I was nowhere near you around lap 11 and 12. I didn’t go a lap down either O.o Confusion Level 100.
@supernicebob also said there was weird things going on with me in that race :/

And yes, that was a cricket. They are EVERYWHERE here, and quite loud too :P

alright, I’ve got 2 mega posts on the way.. including a race review and an “awards style” round-up of the season (like I did last year)

but for starters.. who wants to do an end of season bash this sunday? Mag proposed the idea over chat as we all disconnected.

I was thinking we kick off proceedings with a lap of honour by the podium dudes 3 wide going half pace for an entire lap (just if my ego wasn’t large enough). Once that lap is done, everyone else can jump on track and we can have some friendly destruction derby racing.

Once we’ve had enough demo derby racing as a crew, we all form a party and join some public servers. Then we have some fun sprint/public races! It’d be nice to be dueling with everyone outside of a formal setting (I can crash into Damon! yay!). Some people can record it or whatever, and we can all have a nice goodbye for the year!

    Sounds good?

@damonsmedley “That enigmatic guy with no name” is called Roberto, there you happy? :P

@AUS_Steve That sounds great, I’d be up for it. :)

In my mind, I picture Roberto as a metal-loving Rastafarian with a killer afro. I don’t want to find out the reality in case the illusion is shattered.

I like the idea of doing another Destruction Derby race around Monaco like last year and then doing some 20% races in a public lobby with randoms. Have full damage, Safety Cars and random car selection, things like that and just mess around for a bit. Maybe do another race around Melbourne in anticipation of the season starting. If enough people are up for it, I’ll set up a room at the usual time on Sunday.

@Silverkeg I didn’t see you all race either, when I span at village and you got past on your video I didn’t see you on my screen, and then when you went off near woocote I didn’t see you when I passed you, I’ll have my video edited and uploaded so you can see soon (or in this case not see) :)

@AUS_Steve Sounds good, im up for it too :)

I know! Damage off, but we do a 3 lap race around Melbourne in heavy rain with all assists off, and we have to use options… First to the flag wins! :D

EDIT: Actually, 3 laps might take us all day. We should try it with 1 lap first! Am I the only one that thinks this would be a hilarious race?

  • Profile picture of shyguy1992 shyguy1992 said 1 year, 3 months ago:

@damonsmedley done that before, it really is hilarious!

Certainly up for some fun and games this weekend. Should be about.

Hopefully will be able to upload my video tonight (been busy for the last couple of days) but you’ll see that @Silverkeg ‘s lag, or the lag between us (still not convinced my internet connection is fully back up to speed) was crazy.

After I had my spin with Shyguy, and Silverkeg was in front it was so distracting. His car was all over the place, rarely on the actual track and frequently seemingly having a humongous, continuous crash. Every once in a while I would get by whilst he was off track only for him to suddenly reappear down the road in front of me. It was practically impossible to race against him as I couldn’t be sure of where he actually was beyond trying to judge how far ahead he was from the time gap.

I went into the back of him a couple of times being caught out by his car suddenly going quite slowly through a corner, and then leaping ahead again. Eventually I made pretty heavy contact at the Arena hairpin, which put Silverkeg’s car into a spin before he leaped ahead once more and I got a penalty.

In the grand scheme of things I don’t think it really affected much, but I reckon we would have had a much more exciting race without it.

@supernicebob Like Ned and I in Monaco last year? It’s hilarious to watch back, but extremely frustrating at the time!

    EDIT: Haha! Look what I found! :D @Magnificent-Geoffrey @Aus_Steve

Destruction Derby?? I reckon I’d be a natural at that. :P I’d be well up for it. Count me in. :D

To be honest, I’m still staggered at how some of you guys were able to get up to 200mph on the approach to Copse!! How do y’all do it?? Magic, or something, I’m going to assume? :P

@supernicebob I’m sooo sorry!! I honestly thought we were having a good battle :/ damn lag

  • Profile picture of supernicebob supernicebob said 1 year, 3 months ago:

Finally got round to sorting out my video. Unfortunately it’s not too exciting, and mostly highlights the lag issues.

I made a good start off the line, but started to drop back, and then as soon as Brooklands on the first lap the Silverkeg I was seeing was all over the place. I got by Shyguy on lap 2, but then had the recovering Mag behind me and both he and Ed got by when I out-braked myself at Brooklands. Next Shyguy was behind me, and I again out-braked myself, this time at Vale. Shyguy came through, we made contact and I spun off. This was to be a disappointing end for me in our championship battle.

This let Silverkeg through, and you can see him apparently having a big crash in front of the main grandstand opposite the pits as I get back under way. All sorts of nonsense ensued for the next few laps, including me getting a text message. This carried on till my first pit stop at the end of lap 5 (with my text alert noise repeating).

Silverkeg stopped a lap later and came back out in front of me and the madness resumed. A hefty collision at Brooklands was followed by another at the Arena hairpin, which earned me a penalty despite no actual harm coming to Silverkeg. Fearing more penalties if this continued, I had to back off a bit and make some space for clean racing.

I took the opportunity during my second stop at the end of lap 16 to address the text message and make a quick phone call. With options on and the engine turned up I tried to mount an attack on Silverkeg, but ended up pushing too hard and making too many mistakes. It’s a shame as the lag seemed to be better this time around. I was then hoping to build a gap big enough to Spud to negate my penalty, which mostly thanks to his battle with David I was.

Bit of a disappointing end to the season for me really. Didn’t help that I was pretty hung over also, but I can only blame myself for that. As I said on Sunday, it’s been great to be a part of this and I’ve really enjoyed myself. Massive thanks to everyone involved but especially Mag for organising it all, and congratulations once again to Steve!

@supernicebob That’s just pathetic lag. I’m not sure if we can blame Codemasters or not for that, but the fact it just dishes out penalties for whatever it sees on the screen of one person is a bit silly. And I must apologise to @jonnyw360f1 – I’m beginning to very much doubt he actually did hold me up in qualifying as he said he can’t even remember it. I’m thinking he wasn’t actually there at all and it was just lag like you experienced with @silverkeg!

Also, you were totally about to whisper something obscene when you got that penalty! :D

Not sure what the problem was, but maybe we need to get everyone to restart their routers before races now…
