My internet connection can be very unreliable when it wants to be, but hopefully it will be okay on Sunday.

@Magnificent-Geoffrey You can ask the new guys what they want first! I’ve already said I’ll take whatever. At this stage, my first picks would be McLaren, Renault, or Toro Rosso. But if @AUS_Steve is keeping his Red Bull, I might team up with him. I’ll chat to him on fb tomorrow about it. :)

    OK, @Ads21@David-A@ed24f1@Silverkeg@Spud & @supernicebob:

Please nominate two cars that you would like to compete with – a first choice, and a second choice.

You have free pick of any cars on the grid apart from Sauber or Williams – but many teams already have one driver, so I can’t promise you’ll all get the car you want.

Well I’ll pick Ferrari as first choice but Williams would have been my second choice and Sauber my third lol, so I guess I’ll just go with Force India as my second choice instead.

    1. Mercedes-Benz
    2. Red Bull

    @magnificent-geoffrey

    1. Renault.
    2. Force India.

But I’m easy like a Sunday morning, so I’m not really fussed about what car I get. I’m only in this for a bit of fun (and hopefully the odd points finish) :P

    I would rather like,

    1. Force India
    2. Team Lotus

Are we doing team co-operation? If so, this may affect what our choices should be.

    1. Ferrari
    2. Lotus

I’ve been following Really Rubbish Racing’s F1 2011 series on Xbox and those guys seem to be having all sorts of problems with bugs, stupid penalties and lag. Because I will not allow Codemasters shoddy, half-arsed programming to ruin the series that I have put so much time and effort into sorting out, I refuse to run the championship with the game in its current condition.

At the moment, we have no idea when this long-overdue patch will be released. Rumours are it could be in two weeks. That’ll be just before Round 1 is scheduled and will give us no time to practise with the fixes and increased online stability before the first race of the season – which is less than ideal. I said weeks ago that Codemasters had until the 18th to release the patch and I’m pretty sure that deadline will be missed now.

So fed up with Codemasters at the moment. Two years in a row now. It’s pathetic.

Hello PS3′ers. I run the championship over at RRR having all met on this wonderful site :).

The first race we had was awful as I think Icthyes explained. This Sunday just passed we had a few more issues. The main ones being when the safety car comes out. It has been known to lag and for people to crash into it and also it makes your tyres go cold as soon as it comes out with Dan Thorn crashing because of this.

Also time penalties have been a nightmare. There is no option to turn penalties off which is really bad so you have to work out all the times less the penalties.

We are 6 races in our championship and I’d say it has been going really well apart from that and a lot of issues have been lag which is just a feature of online gaming.

We are looking at doing a 100% race in the new year but will definitely be holding out until the patch is released.

Are we still practising on Sunday, if not for the championship, then maybe just for fun?

  • Profile picture of Magnificent Geoffrey Magnificent Geoffrey said 1 year, 6 months ago:

Yes, Sunday will go ahead as planned. We’ll all have to decide afterwards how we feel about starting the championship with the game in its pre-patch condition.

    Hey guys.

My car choices would be: 1. McLaren 2. Force India, but I’m not massively fussed to be honest if those are not available. Just happy to be involved (thanks once again for that).

I guess I hosted the races on Saturday morning after Mag had his technical difficulties? Did not experience any issues with lag in any of the races, though a lot of the time I was trundling about on my own. Certainly fun to pick my way through the frequent first corner carnage though.

Ran a test with the speednet app on my phone the other night, the results of which were: download 12.95 mbps, upload 3.03mbps, ping 24ms. I can test again from my pc this evening if required.

First of all, I say we have the safety car and damage off. That leaves us with basically the same rules as last year that worked perfectly. The safety car would have been nice, but if it’s causing more problems than fun or excitement, I say we keep everything as it was. Also, if the patch isn’t released in time, I say we work out a weekend where we do two races so we fit the season in before the real 2012 season starts. We’ve got plenty of time to organise it and I’m sure there’ll be a weekend where people can hang around a little longer or perhaps even be free on the Saturday. We’ll get around it, but at the moment, I wouldn’t be so keen on running it in its current state.

I think we might have to… as much as I love having the safety car included (it throws everything up in the air during a race just as much as watching a Grand Prix on telly!) it truly devastates peoples races if it lags. I’d have damage on if it were up to me, but whatever the poll results threw back up I think we should go with.
