Wire connection problem with my steering wheel (3 posts)

Hello, everybody. And happy new year!

My Formula Vibration Feedback Wheel gave me a lot of fun for years, but it suffered an accident a few months ago. The pedal-to-wheel wire was completely broken and I couldn’t find out how to fix it.

I recently decided to try and repair, so I opened the unit and thought how to splice the wires directly. But, as I suspected, there’s an extra one in the wheel side. Four from the pedals (red, black, green and white) and five from the wheel (the latter plus a yellow one).

What should I with this yellow wire?

I know it’s quite an specific question, but I can’t find any electric diagram.
    Thank you very much!!!

I know you’ve said “[it] gave me a lot of fun for years”, but was the wheel under warranty when it broke? If so then you could probably contact the manufacturer for a replacement. If not…well, I don’t really know much about wiring up stuff like this, and a basic search on Google doesn’t get anything meaningful. Maybe you will have to write to the manufacturer explaining your situation and seeing if they could tell you how to fix it. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

Looks to me like a standard serial port connector.
http://airborn.com.au/serial/rs232.html look at the DE9 picture.

That said the colour of the wires might not be the same.
