@rampante: it’s not so much the red and white (they have indeed used this for ages). it’s the positioning of the red and white that is drawing much suspicion.

Haven’t they already got a logo? And isn’t it one of the most distinctive, emotive and well-recognised logos in the world?

I think we all know the rationale behind this unnecessary new design – and why it hasn’t appeared on their F1 car…

I think this logo is really – not awful… just… bland. Uninspired, uninteresting. McLaren aren’t just beating them in the technical department, their PR and graphic design people are beating Ferrari on all counts too.

Yeah, I’ve never understood why they don’t just blow that up and cover the whole of the side of the car with it. The new logo is really corporate and boring.

Over the history the cavallino rampante has always been in a small shield with the flag above. I personally would like it to stay that way. There has been white in the cars many times although I do prefer all red but with such a long tie with Phillip Morris I don’t see how they can shake off the association. The Santander logo is also red so it causes a sponsorship wash out. Ferrari are not going to change the base for anyone. It is a difficult situation as I still see Malboro as a Mclaren sponsor before I see them at Ferrari. When the name is mentioned I see the red and white Mclaren in my mind the same as the black JPS Lotus and the yellow Camel Benetton

It depends on when you started watching. I only saw Marlboro McLarens live on TV for a year. I’ve seen a lot of old races since, but to me, Marlboro will always be connected to Ferrari.

@ Journeyer, sometimes it feels like too long. It has also been my passion and my work place for many years. We have a saying here in Italy for it but it just does not translate and if I post it in Italian it will get blocked.

It is asimmetric and wouldn’t fit well on the car. Until I see it I won’t change mind (if it does really fit well).
