@the_sigman Vitaly Petrov has no money or sponsorship to keep him in that Caterham seat for 2013, So he would be hoping that the drive in Brazil that secured 10th place in the constructors can bring enough money to keep him at Caterham. Heikki Kovalianen, Bruno Senna and Giedo der Garde are also favourites.

I’m thinking as much as Petrov doesn’t have too much of a chance at keeping his seat next year, which is a shame, that he will most likely drive at the Russian Grand-prix in 2014 even if its just for that one race that season.

I can see the Russian government actually helping him for that or the idea of a Russia race without a Russian driver will be a bit of a let-down for them.

Then why did his sponsors, Russian Helicopters, visit the Caterham factory last week?

He lost all of his backing from the Russian government. However, he kept some private-sector backing. And his performance in Brazil, netting the team tenth place overall, brings even more money into the team.

Vitaly does have Russian Hellicopters backing him, But Caterham want him to have more money and more sponsorship. And your right he did earn Caterham an extra 10 million for earning 10th place in the constructors.

I’m pretty much convinced now it’s the final BMW DTM seat seeing as they won’t confirm or deny it. Announcement sometime in January.
