Unfortunately at this point too I don’t really know anything about lenses so don’t know what to look for yet there. Plus I don’t have the budget yet at this starting off stage to buy anything special.

    Hey guys,

Keith and I have been working on some “how to shoot motorsports” photography posts to run on the site. They will hopefully be up soon. Stay tuned.

I started taking F1 photos with my first dSLR, a canon 1000d…. They were ok, although I have now jumber to a 550d, using 55-200mm lense. I must say their is a Significant quality improvement with the 550d over the 1000d. Yes its a little more expensive, but the 550d also let’s u record HD video…

Steve, it’s not so much a how to get into motorsport photography. That has to come in it’s own time. IT IS NOT EASY and there is definitely no formula to do it.

This is more of a “how to make the most of your weekend.” Believe me, buying nice glass and a nice camera will get you only part of the way. Just cause you own a Ferrari, doesn’t mean you know how to drive it kind of thing ;) I want to help teach people to drive the Ferrari instead of how to buy it if that makes sense.

I know about DSLR’s in the capacity that I’m a serious but amateur photgrapher, but I’ve never really tried motorsports photography properly yet.

But something like the canon 1100d or the older 1000d would be a good starting point, maybe buy the 55-250mm lens shortly afterwards too, that would be good for motorsports.

oh and as for prices, look at this website,

    http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/

it helped me get a good deal on my 550d a while back.
