I don’t mind artificial rain. just who and when are the problem.

Way too gimmicky and artificial. The new tyres, KERS and DRS should spice things up next season. Not to mention we have at least 3 drivers that are very evenly matched, all in different teams.

I’m with the crowd who agree this is ridiculous…oh, of course I understand how a rainy race shakes things up with the grid, but if F1 needs artificial means like this to shake things up, then there is something they aren’t doing right. I think this sort of gimmick only makes a mockery of F1. I also think it provides an element of danger that flies in the face of the direction F1 has been going since Senna died. Hey drivers, what would you say to at some point during the races you are suddenly driving on the equivalent of marbles, and your visibility is cut to near zero…sound good? Come on BE, you went back to slicks which gave back some mechanical grip, so now all you need to do is limit the amount of wing the drivers can have, thus reducing the dependency these cars have on aero, thus making being behind a slower car in dirty air less of a detriment, and this will allow all the ‘shaking things up’ that is needed. And stability in the rules will allow the lesser teams to catch up somewhat to the ‘have’ teams. Why make it a lottery, BE? Surely you have far more options that make sense than to risk drivers lives unnecessarily. What’s that you say BE? It will be up to the drivers to slow down and drive to the conditions? Oh…sorry…I thought this was the pinnacle of RACING!

Well, I’m convinced that this was just another way for Bernie to keep F1 in the news.

However, despite being a racing lover and more akin to a traditionalist in that respect [i.e. no driver assists], I don’t mind this idea. My reasoning being is that I can’t really see how its different to a night race. That is a race, that will happen in the dark. An artificial wet race would be a race that is a wet race. It would just always be a wet race and slot into the calendar as such.

Turning the sprinklers on/off at random points goes too far, but having a race that is wet deliberately doesn’t make much difference to me. It’s a bit silly, as that means that it wouldn’t be dissimilar to a race in the dry, but fundamentally I don’t disagree with it.

If he really wants to liven things up he should do a Yorkshire GP, with mandatory beer stops, coal powered cars and a cobbled start finish straight. That’s a real challenge!
