There are some pictures of the Austin track progress on facebook.
For someone wanting a quick look, this photo of progress…
goes well with this photo someone has put on flickr of google maps showing the track overlay.
You can see the full album at
I guessed there would be more to see by now but I doubt anyone except those working on the project can say whether it is ahead or behind schedule at this stage.
looking good, considering how far away the event is.
Any up to date images of the Indian track?
Looks very flat indeed, none of the fabled elevation we were promised, unless they intend to shift one hell of a lot of dirt I don’t see it being any other then the most Tilke of Tilke circuits.
You do realise that these are all aerial photographs, right? They’re taken from such a height and angle that all of the elevation changes are invisible. If you get on Google Earth, find the site (near Elroy, Texas), and adjust the view apparpriately, you can clearly see the surrounding countryside is quite hilly.
Why on earth would the organisers make such a song and dance about having a ciricuit with elevation changes and releasing photos of the site pre-construction that clear show hills, only to bulldoze them all?
Watch the time lapse video posted on the facebook page. You’ll see some elevation change.
Also, SO can’t wait to see this thing complete! It’s looking EPIC :D
And if, like me, you want to look at the site on google maps, here’s the link:
If you look at the renderings, you can see there’s a fairly steep drop out of turn 1.
