I almost missed the race i was waiting for it to come on @ 930 on one. Missed the pre-show(not that its fantastic but i still like to watch it) the only way i found out it was on ten was when i logged on to the live timming here and somebody mentioned it. They didn’t make much of an attempt(that i saw) to inform viewers of the switch.

Is there a way to watch live (i could download it after but i like live) it in aus in hd atm i.e foxtell or something?

If you go to the one.com website, they stream the race live. You still need to put up with ad breaks but I think its better to watch a live stream with breaks than a delayed telecast with breaks…

If anyone knows of a good, reliable stream with no ad breaks, please share! :)

F1 was by FAR the most viewed show on One, so I can imagine the discussion that went on in the Network 10 offices..

Very high up channel 10 programming manager: “Hmm, we need another show for ‘Super Sunday..”
Lower level programming manager: “What about a show from One or Eleven?”
    -checks the ratings from One-
Lower level programming manager: “What about F1?”
Very high up channel 10 programming manager: “Perfect, get to it”
    -music starts-
    -fade to black-

So yeah, I’m planning on producing it as a musical

Ratings from last night. Looking at other weeks, it’s comparable to the sort of ratings their 9:30 movies were getting, perhaps a bit lower. But their combined ratings one + ten would have to be lower, as the F1 viewers have logically migrated, but I doubt it goes the other way:
    Malaysia: 442k (one)
    China: 349k (one)
    Bahrain: 425k (ten)
Malaysia on at a different time, so hard to compare directly, but I wouldn’t write home yet.

Is there a way to watch live (i could download it after but i like live) it in aus in hd atm i.e foxtell or something?

Not on foxtel to my knowledge. Unlikely to be before 2016 (2015 is the end of the current deal with ten).

There you go, a bit of common sense. They had to consolidate the audience because they are an otherwise crap network who would have been bankrupt if not for endless reruns of The Simpsons. Witness their utter failure extending the news to 7 o’clock. Fail fail fail (told you so Simon). If my eyes were in better shape I’d be really annoyed at losing HD but so long as it’s on I’m happy. That said , if there was an ad free pay per view I’d be on it like stink.

    A 46% increase, huh?

I wonder if they can keep those numbers going …

  • Profile picture of Thecollaroyboys Thecollaroyboys said 1 year ago:

46% up on the same round last year – I thought for a moment that they thought thye were up on last years Bahrain. LOL.
I’d like to see the viewing numbers though. I wonder if that 46% was for the first 10 mins of the prerace show and how much did it fall away after that.

  • Profile picture of Prisoner Monkeys Prisoner Monkeys said 1 year ago:

The viewing numbers are listed above – 425,000.

And ratings are generally taken from the whole show, not the first ten minutes of it.

Public numbers are cumulative but I believe the subcribers get far more detailed info.

I just checked my EPG and noticed Moto GP was added to the ONE HD schedule and LIVE this weekend. Now I find out F1 is back on ONE HD.
Awesome news. Folks in the East are still stuck with SD but at least it’s live. Keep fighting guys!

I wonder if it was Mark who actually made it happen?

@Jenkins HAHAHA that comic is hilarious!

They should simulcast on One and TEN FFS

At least we have Mark Webber to thank for restoring live F1 coverage across Australia… It’s not in HD in the eastern states, but it’s a start! One victory at a time, excuse the pun!

I get the reasoning behind trying to get a bigger audience by putting it on Ten to get the casual viewer but why do they have to take it off One? Surely they can run them at the same time. They own both channels so they’re not losing ratings.

That would also solve the problem with the time difference in the western states. They could show it live in HD on One for the die hard fans and then replay it in SD on Ten in their Super Sunday line up for the casual viewers.

The only issue I can see is that they might have to pay more to show it this way although before the switch they used to show it live on One and delayed on Ten so it’d be a straight swap.

    Also that comic is brilliant!
