I love that though because it’s just so dramatic in a cheesey but fun way. It gives F1 a bit of soul.

    I can’t stand Jake either.

I think Sky’s coverage was pretty solid today, it was very professional. The Skypad was used quite well I thought, and I thought the presenting team was fine. I think Sky will get their coverage together by mid-season.

The BBC team was good, but they lost Martin and Ted who were along with Eddie, the best members of the team. I really don’t enjoy watching Jake, he acts too immature at times. I like a presenter who tries to have fun, but Jake sometimes takes it too far, and he’s not a funny person. Jake also shows signs of bias in my opinion too. Another problem I had with the BBC was that they rarely gave any attention to anyone outside of the top teams except Paul Di Resta.

not sure, I do find the un-charasmatic Coulthard and his new ‘partner’ a little dull.

Really? Bar a couple of little blips in Australia, Coulthard/Edwards has been the best commentary duo I’ve ever listened to. I like Martin Brundle, and always enjoyed his input, but thought he was never used in quite the right way or the balance with his co-commentator was never quite right. I can’t comment on his pairing with David Croft because I don’t have Sky, but the BBC team is great.

    Definitely agree.

@jonnyw360f1 I love DC but Edwards just screams and then screams and then screams some more just to make sure your ears really have bled.

Can’t afford Sky….just to watch one type of sport. No time to watch movies or other sports!!

Really do miss Martin and Ted as the commentary and knowledge can’t be bettered.

New bloke on BBC is crap…so many mistakes and gafs this morning…. “.1 of a second” is not close in F1

    SKY all the way,
Gary Anderson waffled through a team radio which is more interesting than whatever he was saying.

Sky for me all the way…still new and still a like awkward at times, but already WAY ahead of the Beeb.

I want to see the whole experience, I want to see practice, qualifying and the race. I also want to see the cars, garages & pits and lastly there are more than 3 teams…the BBC don’t get this…

With the Beeb, its all Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari…nobody else gets a look in until they are out of the race then suddenly humphries (who is useless) suddenly wants to talk to them for 30 seconds…Sky cover sauber, marrusia, lotus, caterham, etc…not sure the Beeb have even heard of these teams.

Now if I can just get a reduction on my licence fee as now the beeb has blown another sport.

Niper, what you talking about? They may their flaws, but they are certainly not way behind in every area.

right, Sky is a bit of a disappointment.
I don’t like their pre and post race coverage. The commentary during the race is good just because MB is there. The pit lane reporters are very weak apart from Ted. I do like the “Sky pad” analysis. There should be more of it.

So, i watched the race on Sky on all the coverage on the BBC.

As for the Sky F1 channel itself, i reckon it lacks a lot. It has potential but it does not deliver good enough material.

Having watched the first 2 races on sky I chose to watch this one on bbc because I personally prefer it. The team just seems to have more chemistry. The sky team lacks that, maybe they’ll gain it over the season we’ll just have to see

Watched the race on Sky (because of MB) but it was the filling to a BBC sandwich. Their coverage pre-/post race was awesome, and having watched Sky’s for the last 2 races, it highlights just how well the Beeb do it and their ‘forum’ is unbeatable still.

I’ve got both BBC and Sky so I chose this time to stick to BBC, see what it was like.

Can’t really say much about the BBC warmup/forum…I’ve not watched them in years because of all the best-mates-on-a-night-out top-gearesc banter. I find all the forced chemistry beyond awful. Like the snippet at the end where we see Jake and Hamilton racing RC cars – spare me.

The BBC grid walk was hopeless, embarassingly bad. The less said about that waste of time the better.

The BBC commentary team is not great. They still do the most annoying thing a commentator can do – say things like ‘This race is going to be fantastic!’ etc. Don’t try to big something up, we can make our own minds up about it. I lost count of the amount of times Coulthard said that in 2011, only for the race to be dull as hell.

I’m sticking to Sky next time.

I watched the BBC coverage in my hotel room this morning, I thought it was alright apart from their awful ‘Nintendo 64′ graphics. I reckon for the races the BBC have live I’ll do the same as @S.J.M says and the watch the Sky coverage in between the BBC build up and post race analysis. Another bonus with the BBC is we’ve got the lovely Lee McKenzie to look forward to during that big event thingy in London.

I don’t know if this is the right thread, but I much, much prefer Johnny Herbert to Damon Hill. I think he’s just a far less dry and dull character (although having said that, I did like too Damon Hill anyway).
