Inspired by the ‘best driver never to win a championship’ thread: who is/was the best driver never to have won a GP?
I’ve heard many stories about Chris Amon and his dreadful luck but I’ve never seen any of the races in question. Therefore my vote’s got to go to Heidfeld – consistent and reliable, a number of inspired strategy calls in changeable weather, and some fantastic double overtakes over the years!
Though I imagine some may disagree… (why am I thinking of PM?)
6th January 2011, 19:12 at 7:12 pm #157473sw6569ParticipantMartin Brundle
6th January 2011, 19:14 at 7:14 pm #157474RIISEMemberA bit of a cliche, but Brundle, Or Verstappen.
6th January 2011, 19:37 at 7:37 pm #157475Tom L.ParticipantVerstappen? Better than Heidfeld and Brundle? What made you choose him?

I wanted to say Oliver Panis – then I remembered luck can sometimes favour these drivers. ;)
I think it’s Nico Rosberg – but that will change next year!
6th January 2011, 20:25 at 8:25 pm #157478RIISEMemberMaybe we should make a “Best driver to never get a podium” thread. =)
6th January 2011, 20:52 at 8:52 pm #157479David-AParticipantNicholas Heidfeld.
6th January 2011, 20:55 at 8:55 pm #157480TodfodParticipantI would go with Nick Heidfeld. Nico Rosberg will win a race at some point of time.. but looks like Quick Nick’s career is over without a win.
6th January 2011, 21:03 at 9:03 pm #157481AnonymousInactiveTommy Byrne and Stefan Bellof….Two drivers who potentially could have been world champions…
6th January 2011, 21:33 at 9:33 pm #157482James_mcParticipantChris Amon. Makes Mark Webber look like he’s stumbled upon a field of 4-leaf clover….
6th January 2011, 21:37 at 9:37 pm #157483Adrian JParticipantNarain Karthikeyan.
What? You don’t agree?
6th January 2011, 21:44 at 9:44 pm #157484James_mcParticipantAlan McNish. A god at Le Mans, and was unlucky to be stuck in a crappy Toyota with crappier management for his only time in F1.
I would also say Rosberg, but he’ll get one sooner rather than later.

7th January 2011, 2:07 at 2:07 am #157486wasiF1ParticipantCurrent field I have to say Nico Rosberg,he is very high class driver hope as he said yesterday that he wins a race in 2011.
