    @sw6569

    I wouldn’t say 3 points in Jordan’s 2004 is bad, if anything 1 point would have been a great effort. Pantano probably would have put his car in the wall in Canada anyway.

    Tazio Nuvolari.

    @slr thats precisely my point though, if Heidfeld couldn’t get any points out of the car, how can you rate Pantano as being terrible because he also couldn’t get any points finishes?

    I’m no pantano fan, but it does seem a bit unfair to rate him after that season. its a bit like rating Senna because of last year in the HRT

    Peter Brock from Australia. He totally dominated our V8 Supercar series for years, winning 9 Bathurst 1000′s. He was also very successful in other touring car and rally events. Could he have been successful in open wheelers, who know’s?

    Tom Kristensen and Gil de Ferran are an easy two. But I also think that Jimmy Stewart would have been good. Judging by his brother, and his hill climb and other motor racing success. But that might be a little far off.

    How about Sakon Yamamoto? I don’t think he’s ever driven an F1 car worthy of that title!

    Tazio Nuvolari, Bernd Rosemeyer and Rudolf Caracciola – i think this drivers could have been strong competition for J.M. Fangio, Alberto Ascari, Giuseppe Farina and the others.

    I added more drivers – A.J. Foyt, Al Unser sr. and jr. and Rick Mears.
    Maybe Gil de Ferran and Dario Franchitti, they are good drivers.

    Sorry for my bad english.

    Your English is fine Jackie :)

    I’d also give Rosemeyer a mention from pre-F1 days but I don’t think he was ever as good as Tazio but that’s just personal opinion/bias :P

    Don’t forget Jean-Pierre Wimille – he was probably the top driver after the Second World War and could have been a major player in F1′s formative years were he not killed in 1949.
