Actually, I wasn’t thinking so much and encyclopedia of Formula 1 as I was thinking a work of fiction. I’d love to be published like that one day. Who knows, maybe I could work the Singapore 2008 incident into a storyline. An international criminal syndicate has been fixing races by using powerful electromagnets to disable the gearboxes of the cars. An engineer notices it and is murdered for it.

Crime fiction is kind of my thing. I’d have an international betting syndicate fixing the races, the defending World Champion who cannot come to grips with the new regulations but is desperate to defend his title, and even the foreign element – the murdered engineer was working for a team that was using CFD exclusively (like Virgin), with a lot of their funding coming from the Navy who want to explore the use of CFD in building next-generation fighter jets (because they can be produced faster and cheaper) and agreed to sponsor the team before motorsport is so competitive that the team could develop the CFD process faster than the military could and when the engineer turns up dead, the government suspects sabotage.

Here’s something I wanted to know: why does no-one ever sing their national anthem on the podium?

    They don’t know the words?

Also, Alonso would be physically incapable of singing his national anthem as it is an instrumental. He could hum along, I suppose.
