I tried to have this discussion on another forum, unfortunately it escalated quickly and turned into a flame war. I have a lot more faith in F1 Fanatic’s, however. ;-)

The name of the game is very simple. List the top 5 best wins of each champion on the grid.

Ooh love this. Wouldn’t it be better if we listed reasons though?

    Sebastian Vettel
2008 Italian GP – winning in a Toro Rosso
2009 Chinese GP – only non-double diffuser win of 2009!
2011 Monaco GP – absolutely fantastic tyre mangement to go one-stop so early
2012 Japanese GP – absolute domination in a weekend that can only be classed under “perfection”
2011 Spanish GP – 13 laps of holding back a car that was 1s quicker than him in free air? And with a failed KERS to boot…

    Jenson Button
2012 Belgian GP – absolute domination. ‘Nuff said.
2009 Monaco GP – the only person in the field to make the supersoft last
2010 Australian GP – a relentless display of smooth consistency, posting pretty much green sectors through his whole option-tyre stint
    2011 Canada GP – self-explanatory
2009 Spanish GP – his laptimes on old tyres were quicker than Barichello’s on new!

    Lewis Hamilton
2007 Canadian GP – absolutely untouchable, even by Alonso (who was passed by Sato that race…)
2008 British GP – again, absolute domination in the wet, though he was slightly blighted by being outqualified.
2011 German GP – only man that could make the primes work
    2010 Belgian GP – untouchable.
2007 Japanese GP – fantastic wet drive

    Kimi Raikkonen
2013 Australian GP – Keep calm and stay on a 2-stop
    2005 Monaco GP
    2005 Canadian GP
    2004 Belgian GP
    2007 Belgian GP

    Fernando Alonso
2013 Spanish GP – pulled a blinder by committing to a 4-stop from the off, catching (pretty much) everyone else off guard.
2010 Singaporean GP – Keeping back a faster car, AND a grand chelem while he was at it… probably the least dominant grand chelem in history, which is impressive
2007 Monaco GP – absolutely showed his class by lapping all but the top 3
2007 European GP – for a driver not rated much for his wet skills, impressed me here.
2008 Japanese GP – won fair and square in a car that, in hindsight, shouldn’t have been quite of racewinning pace

    Sebastian Vettel
    1. 2010 Abu Dhabi GP – Title decider
    2. 2008 Italian GP – First win, in difficult conditions
    3. 2011 Monaco GP – Not a little mistake under pressure
    4. 2009 Chinese GP – Dominated, wet conditions, first win for the team that until now has given him 3 (4?) WDC, and a big moment with Buemi
    5. 2013 German GP – Home win, Under pressure from the Lotuses

    Kimi Raikkonen
    1. 2005 Japanese GP – Last lap pass
    2. 2004 Belgian GP – Only win in a bad year.
    3. 2009 Belgian GP – The same as above.
    4. 2003 Malaysian GP – First win
    5. 2012 Abu Dhabi GP – First win after comeback

    Jenson Button
    1. 2006 Hungarian GP – First win in not such-a-good-car.
    2. 2011 Canadian GP – We all know. But I won’t put it first because the first half of the race wasn’t very good.
    3. 2012 Belgian GP – Dominating weekend
    4. 2010 Australian GP – Made the right decision at the right time.
    5. 2009 Australian GP – First race of memorable season.
+ 2009 Running contest – Road to the Monaco podium

    Lewis Hamilton
    1. 2008 British GP – Rain, domination, home win
    2. 2011 German GP – Fantastic battle with Webber and Alonso
    3. 2007 Canadian GP – First win
    4. 2011 Chinese GP – Big win, got the lead late in the race, good call.
    5. 2007 Japanese GP – Could be very important for the championship, but…

    Fernando Alonso
    1. 2010 Singapore GP – Under pressure, street circuit, one of the longest races, conditions (humidity) didn’t help
    2. 2012 Malaysian GP – A win in such bad conditions, in the F2012.
    3. 2005 San Marino GP – Held off charging Schumi, no mistakes under pressure
    4. 2012 European GP – Home win, many overtakes, emotional as well
    5. 2007 European GP – Big fight with Massa, late overtake as well

@kingshark Ooooh. Lovely! But I’d love to do past champions too, with permission from you, of course.

    Sebastian Vettel
    1. 2013 German GP – Took that elusive home win despite a lot of pressure from the Lotuses.
    2. 2008 Italian GP – Winning. In a Toro Rosso. No other STR driver has even gotten on the podium.
    3. 2011 Monaco GP – He got some help from that red flag, but his defense was extraordinary.
    4. 2010 Abu Dhabi GP – His first title-winning drive was a beauty.
    5. 2012 Japanese GP and 2011 Indian GP (tied) – Grand Chelems! Those don’t come everyday.

    Kimi Raikkonen
    1. 2005 Japanese GP – I suspect we got a lot of new F1 fans because of this race.
    2. 2004 Belgian GP – Spoiling Schumi’s coronation. I wonder what would’ve been without the SCs, though.
    3. 2003 Malaysian GP – First win, in what turned out to be far from the best car out there.
    4. 2013 Australian GP – Did anyone see him coming on the 2-stopper that day? I sure didn’t.
    5. 2007 British GP – An underrated win of his where he beat out the faster McLaren duo.

    Jenson Button
    1. 2011 Canadian GP – From last to first!
    2. 2006 Hungarian GP – First win amidst chaos. Kept his nose clean when Schumi and Alonso didn’t.
    3. 2011 Japanese GP – The most dominant win I have seen from him – on Vettel’s turf, no less!
    4. 2009 Malaysian GP – A huge win for Brawn in treacherous conditions.
    5. 2011 Hungarian GP – Lucked into the right strategy, but was pushing Lewis hard even before that.

    Lewis Hamilton
    1. 2008 British GP – Need I say more?
    2. 2007 Canadian GP – A dominant first win, and made his WC teammate look ordinary.
    3. 2011 German GP – Was not necessarily the fastest car, but made his strategy work.
    4. 2008 German GP – Ended up on the wrong strategy, but won anyway!
    5. 2007 Japanese GP – Passed his first test of championship nerves in dominant style. Too bad the second test didn’t work out so well…

    Fernando Alonso
    1. 2012 European GP – He won this from 11th. To put it in perspective, before Alonso, the race winner here started no lower than 3rd. That’s not even close!
    2. 2012 Malaysian GP – The Ferrari was a pig early that season. Alonso would have nothing of it, though. Stefano was almost in tears at the end.
    3. 2005 San Marino GP – Holding off Schumacher was unbelievable on every level.
    4. 2010 Singapore GP – Grand Chelem at a very delicate point of the season.
    5. 2007 European GP – This was payback for Canada – a fighting win while making Lewis look ordinary
