hopefully you’re right, MG. In Spain, however, it was quite noticeable on TV the booing to Hamilton the Father, hopefully too, it’s just because of 2007 and Alonso vs Hamilton.

Yeah, that really angered me that did. But I can understand that the people doing that weren’t proper Spanish F1 fans, but rather the pathetic Spanish Alonso/Ferrari fanboys who are only interested in Fernando and not Formula 1.

I’d argue that British fans have more reason to boo Alonso than the Spanish fans have to boo Hamilton, given his disgraceful behaviour in 2007. (Not that I’d condone booing him, if it were me I’d neither applaud or boo him). But Vettel hasn’t really done anything in F1 to warrant booing (yet)… except possibly by Mark Webber fans

There were a few thumbs down from fans when Vettel took the lead on the first lap, probably because they didn’t want another Vettel victory, but it’s nothing against the driver. The fans appreciate a good drive and Alonso’s victory was well celebrated, but Hamilton vs Massa at the last corner had the fans jumping about all over the place!

People at the track don’t hear team radio, though. At least we don’t at Albert Park unless you have a FanVision.

British fans at silverstone are scum, they were the same last year booing Sebastian and Fernando, nothing changes. Hope next year that it’s another none British podium so they can boo all they want at their obvious xenophobia against Germans.

Get over it! Germany beat England 4-1… And nobody cares about who won WW2 anymore, it happened over 65 years ago now, get with the times people because it’s equal to racism…

They may boo non-British drivers who are rivals to Jenson and Lewis. But the same happens in Germany, Spain and Italy towards the Mclaren drivers (and I’d happily join in despite being British).

It’s not about being “zenophobic” or World War 2, it’s about pantomime level booing of what the audience sees as the Red or Red Bull “villain” to their Silver “hero”. The real fans still respect the “villain’s” driving ability.

That’s a pretty sweeping statement, when you consider that presumably only a tiny minority of fans were booing. Would you judge all the Spanish fans at Barcelona racist because a few of them blacked their faces? Would you judge all Irish people to be raving lunatics because a lone Irishman invaded a track once?
