Sneezing…. never thought of that. Hmmm. Well they have rip off visors for the flies but imagine a big sneeze all over your view.

I bet there has been at least 1 driver in the history of F1 who has sneezed and crashed…. and blamed electronics or conditions!!!

I’m not an F1 driver but I race karts, and I know a thing or two about those kind of situations. With the bathroom situation, you sweat so much that during the race your body has nothing else to expel. However if the need arises, we are told to let it out, because any concentration that it takes to hold it in is concentration wasted towards driving. This can cause an error, and can result in a crash, which is slightly more expensive than a new suit. Sneezing, I have only sneezed once during a race and that was during the formation lap. I almost missed the fact that everyone slowed down to a crawl and almost wrecked it. Sneezing and coughing are rather dangerous while driving because again, you can cause an accident due to a loss of concentration. Usually though, we’re so focused on driving that sneezing barely ever occurs. And as was said above, our bodies are focused on taking in oxygen, rather than letting it out. I’m sure that F1 drivers do the same, since it’s probably more important to keep concentration when going 180 through a corner than it is doing 70.

Yeah, whenever I’m racing karts I always go to the toilet before a race anyway but even if you do need it while driving you don’t really ever have time to think about it because your mind’s concentrating on driving.
As for sneezing, I’ve never needed to in a race, but I have heard of a few people who have crashed because of it!

My trick if I feel a sneeze coming on is to tickle my palet with the tip of my , tongue, always works for me.
With regard to peeing in the car, a storey at the time was that Nelson Piquet Snr. used to pee in the cockpit just to annoy the mechanics.
If we had a female driver (or pilot) would we have to refer to it as the henpit or the pu**ypit.

    @ super_swede_96

It’s not just motorbike racers who have that problem; anyone who rides a motorbike will have a few stories about jumping off the bike in random places and in the hope that no-one will catch you peeing there only to find that the secluded spot they’ve picked turned out to be far less secluded than they first thought.

I think it’s because you’re sitting right on top of the engine and all of the vibrations pass through you while you’re riding as I can drive a car for hours without needing the toilet but I struggle to ride my bike for more than an hour without a toilet break and I have to make sure I go the toilet before getting onto my bike as even if I didn’t need to go before within a couple of minutes of setting off I feel like I’m going to burst.

I suspect in the more tiring/hot races this wouldn’t be a problem though. They would sweat so much that they wouldn’t need to wee as much.
