    Heh, I’ve already seen one guy claim the game is in no way an accurate driving simulation and that he will be trying to get a refund on it … after driving all of three laps.

    Well I cant say wheather or not its a sim because I played on the keys, but its deffinetly more on the arcade side. Its the perfect amount of sim and arcade to make it a LOT of fun to play! The cars really battle with each other and they can give you a run for your money. Its not like I start in a lotus and end 7th, i usually end 15th, which may not be super realistic, but still fun.
    Yes you can flip, but you really have to try, ive only flipped one time and that was when i was testing damage so I rammed into the back of an FI and it sent me FLYING! did a full barrel roll and landed on my top, if only I had fraps.

    Over all I love it and as soon as I get back from school Im playing it again.

    its so annoying when people are so shallow minded! I love sim racing, although i’m far from good, but I just love the experience of racing in general. It’s going to be great racing some of the guys on the board and just in general enjoying a new F1 game that has actually had some decent time and effort put into it to make it a fantastic racing experience.

    Ha, this is so funny! I’m not sure about those guys, but usually, people who complain about lack of realism never drove even a Fiat Panda in their lives! But hey, what knowledge about racing, driving experience and car behaviour Anthony Davidson has when compared to them?! =P

    Only a few people know how truly realistic games are because only a few people have actual real-world racing (not driving) experience!

    @Teixeira: you’re right.

    I’m one of those who almost always complain about games not being realistic enough. I didn’t try F1 2010. Bear in mind my only racing experience comes from a couple of Karting championships (one of those i won) when i was 7 or so!. So nothing special.

    You’re right we’ll never really know how realistic those games are because people don’t drive F1 cars. But still, we all KNOW it’s god damn hard to even drive one. And then you have to drive it fast.

    Even if Anothony Davidson or whoever thinks the game accurately replicates the feel of an F1 car, if you get the game and instantly manage great laptimes with no especial effort, it’s frustrating!

    You EXPECT it to be hard. If it ‘feels’ arcadey, then you don’t really like it.

    Not saying F1 2010 is worthless or whatever. Just that i understand the feeling.

    Oh, I have a history of disregarding everything this guy says. He has a reputation for being very opinionated when he knows nothing about the subject. I remember him trying to lecture everyone on why the Korean Grand Prix wouldn’t happen and most of his argument centering around what would happen if it rained while they were laying tarmac. I remember it because I’m the son of an engineer, and I actually know a thing or two about constructing roads, and I corrected him. He didn’t like it … but then, he doesn’t like anything. If the FIA announced tomorrow that the sky is blue, he’d argue that the sky is red simply because the FIA said it.

    In the case of F1 2010, he claimed that rFactor was the most realistic driving simulator because it was so hardcore … for some reason, people listen to him, even when you post that video where Anthony Davidson basically says that because rFactor and iRacing try to be so difficult, they couldn’t be further from being realisitc.

    I’m sorry, this game is just too easy.

    I’ve just put my Virgin into P11 on the grid in Bahrain, 5 seconds a lap quicker than Lucas on Expert difficulty with no assists. The car is just too easy to drive, far too stable and doesn’t even lock-up under braking. This wasn’t what I was expecting.

    @Magnificent Geoffrey

    I’ve heard two things that appear strange with the game as it is at the moment – firstly, the ai aren’t particularly fast in certain sectors of Bahrain. Secondly that they are much faster in race trim than qualifying for some reason.

    It’ll be interesting to see if your success continues into the race and the following grand prix!

    There is always online as well :)

    I hope it’s not that easy…I was planning on going straight to the hardest difficulty also, in the hope of enjoying spending my entire races trying to catch and pass one car for 19th place. At least it’s the sort of thing that can get patched.

  • Profile picture of Dan Thorn Dan Thorn said 2 years, 9 months ago:

    Ok, this is annoying. I’ve set the throttle to X, like I always do, but it doesn’t recognise the pressure sensitivity. Same with the D-Pad buttons. Did they not consider that some people still like to play old school? Massive blow.

    Does anybody else think the cars feel a bit… clumsy? It is a fun game, but I am beginning to think GP4 will never be bettered.

  • Profile picture of Dan Thorn Dan Thorn said 2 years, 9 months ago:

    Yeha, they feel quite heavy. I know they cited rFactor as being too hard, but I find it much harder to actually drive the cars on this.

    Also I was doing a practice session earlier in the wet, and I accidentally went out on slicks, yet my laptimes were identical to the ones I’d set in the dry and the handling characteristics hadn’t changed at all. I’m actually rather disappointed – if I’d played it before I’d bought it, I don’t think I’d have bothered.

    It is not too bad! I am reasonably happy that I can race with post circa 2001 cars and on the new tracks, but the physics aren’t all that great. I love the fact that in GP4 you can learn a track and then watch a pole lap from this season and the car seems to behave exactly the same! I watched Mark Webber’s pole lap in Spa whilst holding my joystick, (very nerdy) mimicking what I would do in GP4 – and the only difference I could notice (other than the bus stop) was the speed the Red Bull was able to carry through Pouhon. Grand Prix 4 may never be beaten in that respect.

    Back to F1 2010; I think the car feels as if it has too much chassis roll and it is quite disappointing that you can’t correct a big slide like you could in GP4 and the damage isn’t punishing enough. At times I have got out on the dirty line, been heading for a wall, said my last prayers; only to find I have damaged half of my front wing – and that is with the most intense damage enabled. I want it so that if you make a mistake, you’re out.

    I am probably asking a lot, but that is what playing 100s of hours of Grand Prix 4 does to you!
