Sid Watkins always used to have a good one about driver intelligence. He said the only reason drivers were brave enough to race F1 cars is because ‘they have no brain’. He should know, he’s a neurosurgeon!

This one is never included in Murrayisms, but I swear it happened.

During the 1997 British Grand Prix Villeneuve had a 30 second pit stop because of trouble with a wheel nut. The pit reporter (maybe Ted Kravitz?) was shouting in excitement and then you could hear Murray say “Shut up!” in a distant and clipped voice. I have no idea if he was talking to the pit reporter or someone in the commentary box, but it seemed to work! I’ve never heard it mentioned anywhere since.
