    @lin1876 Is that the Dome F1 car? Don’t know what its name/number is, but I think they only made one, and it looks like something from the early-mid 90s.

    @bullfrog I’ll give that. It’s the Dome F105, which was tested in 1996 with a view to racing in the 1997 season. It was about 7 seconds off the pace in a test after the Japanese GP, but development could have overcome much of that. Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite get enough money together, and the rule changes in 1998 meant they would have had to start from scratch, so the project was scrapped.

    Incidentally, it was to run with Mugen-Honda engines, and would probably have been Honda’s works team rather than Jordan/BAR later on. It was to be driven by Shinji Nakano and Marco Apicella.

    edit: You’re right, there was only one made, which is preserved under Dome’s wind tunnel in Japan (I believe you can go and see it, but I’m not sure). It was basically rebuilt after being heavily damaged by an oil leak and resultant fire at the end of 1996.

    Anyway, your turn.

    @sigman1998 Yeah, I wouldn’t have got that.

    No photo this time, but this was a race-winning car that raced on both Goodyear and Pirelli tyres.
    What was the constructor and model name/number?

  • Profile picture of Lin1876 Lin1876 said 10 months ago:

    @bullfrog Is it either the Ferrari 500 or the Lotus 91. Failing that, is it a 1980s Lotus or 1950s Ferrari. I think I’m nearly there if that’s the case.

    edit: Hang on, is it a Brabham? They ran Pirelli in the mid-80s.

    Benetton B191. Raced and won on Pirelli in 1991, and then a B-spec ran on Goodyear at the start of 1992.

    Thank you Wikipedia!

    @lin1876 Wikipedia’s right, and so are you – it’s the B191. Your go again…

    Here you are — the driver seems to be sitting on it rather than in it.
