There were a total of four instances in the Brazilian Grand Prix in the early 80s when drivers finishing in the points were disqualified from the final results. Which drivers got this penalty, why and when?

  • Profile picture of bananarama bananarama said 1 year, 6 months ago:

If I remember correctly there were some big controversies .. Rosberg was disqualified twice. Second time because he was pushed to start, the first time because the car was apparently underweight. Same ruling was for Piquet and funny enough some other time the two Tyrrell (Bellof and Brundle) were disqualified for being underweight too (the terrible Tyrrell of 84 :-P).
So I got Rosberg twice and Piquet but you asked for four and I must admit I don’t know the fourth.

  • Profile picture of KaIIe KaIIe said 1 year, 6 months ago:

I asked for four instances, not drivers ;)
And you got them all correctly

1982: Nelson Piquet (P1) and Keke Rosberg (P2), the “illegal water tank” saga.
1983: Keke Rosberg (P2), push start in the pits
1984: Martin Brundle (P5) (Tyrrell’s DQ from the whole season)

    Your turn.

The best season for Arrows team was 1988 when they finished on 5th place in the constructors championship even better than Williams team.

Question: Who was a car designer by Arrows that year?

  • Profile picture of Prisoner Monkeys Prisoner Monkeys said 1 year, 6 months ago:

@jackie – it was designed by Ross Brawn.

  • Profile picture of jackie jackie said 1 year, 6 months ago:

    Okay, multi-part question:

    1) Which even was provisionally added to the 1999 calendar, but was removed before the 1999 season?

    2) Which circuit was supposed to host this race?

    3) Which former World Champion endorsed this race during the planning stages?

  • Profile picture of Slr Slr said 1 year, 6 months ago:

    1) China.
    2) I really can’t remember without looking it up, I will guess a street circuit in Shenyang.
    3) I think it was Prost.
