Who is the only man on the grid of 2012, to be able to break the record of Sebastian Vettel as the youngest triple F1 champion? Until when (or if the calendar and the dates remain the same until which race) he needs to take his 3rd championship?

  • Profile picture of Toro Stevo Toro Stevo said 5 months, 3 weeks ago:

It would have to be Vergne given he’s the youngest. As his birthday is about 2 and a half months before Vettel’s, this would put the date required to win his third championship by about Monza 2015 if the 2012 race calendar is used approximately.

    Correct @toro-stevo!

This year Maldonado was a race winner but finished 15th on points, the lowest ever position for a race winner. Excluding Indy results in the 1950s, who previously held the record for lowest season standing in a year they had won a race?

After 20 minutes searching I saw that:
Maldonado is the BEST! Nobody has finished lower than 15th in the standings after winning a race!

    Fisichella?

I looked at the 1982 season in the first place, Nelson Piquet finished that season 10th with a win (the champion also had one win). And then in the next season, some guy named Michele Alboreto, who also drove for Ferrari, won a race in 1983 and finished that season 12th with Tyrell. I’ll go for him.

I’m going to go for Jean-Pierre Jabouille, who finshed 13th in 1979 and scored 9 points, all coming from the single race he won that season for Renault.

Luigi Musso in 1956? He shared a winning car with Fangio, so he only got half the points – and he didn’t score again that year.

the_sigman, Maldonado is indeed the best ever. To be fair though, if it was operating under the old 9-6-4-3-2-1 or 10-6-4-3-2-1, then Maldonado would have finished higher than di Resta, Schumacher, Hulkenberg and Kobayashi.

Irishf1 has it. The only other 13th place for a race winner was Jimmy Bryan in 1958, although that was because of Indy so I thought it unfair to count that.

    Sorry for the late reply…
How many races passed between Fangio’s win for Mercedes at the 1955 Italian GP and Rosberg’s win this year in China?
