@andae23 Based on Herbert’s inclusion, it can’t be that big of an achievement. So I’m going to guess something trivial like…

They won races on their birthday (no research was done to come that likely wrong answer)?

  • Profile picture of andae23 andae23 said 5 months, 1 week ago:

    @brazil2007 Nope, that’s not it.

The connection between the drivers is not really that much of an achievement (you are right about a race win), but it is more the machinery with which they did it – I like vague hints

Did they win the last ever races for their respective Car/Engine combinations?

  • Profile picture of andae23 andae23 said 5 months, 1 week ago:

@mathers Possibly, but it’s not what I’m looking for. Remember: these five drivers are the ONLY ones to have done it.

@andae23 Were they the only drivers to have won races in cars used in previous years? Alan Jones’s Shadow DN8 was a year old at the 1977 Austrian GP, as was Beltoise’s BRM when he won the 1972 Monaco GP…

@brazil2007 Nope, there were a lot more drivers who achieved that. I’ll add the GPs at which they achieved it. What did their cars have in common at those GPs?

    Graham Hill 1962 Holland
    Jim Clark 1965 Belgium
    Jean-Pierre Beltoise 1972 Monaco
    Alan Jones 1977 Austria
    Johnny Herbert 1999 Europe

@sigman1998 Correct! They are the only drivers to have won a GP with car number 17

When was the first time that a 1.5 litre, V6 engine was used in Formula 1?

  • Profile picture of IrishF1 IrishF1 said 5 months ago:

1958 in the Ferrari Dino 246

  • Profile picture of andae23 andae23 said 5 months ago:

@anto Sort of correct: it was a modified 246 (2.4 V6) with a smaller engine displacement of 1.5 litres (1.5 V6), so technically it’s a 156. I would say the car Phil Hill drove at the 1958 German GP was closer to a 246 then what I think is a real 156 (Ferrari sharknose, 1961 onwards).

    Enfin, you’re correct!
