@kingshark – I’m not sure exactly what the problem is, but you cannot use the automatic distance measures anywhere in Korea. You have to plot out the circuit manually, which can be a real pain, but there is no way around it.

    @prisoner-monkeys
Thanks for that. I figured it out myself when I was desperately trying different options, but I appreciate the advice.

    Here’s my circuit:

    http://gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5793414

    Length: 4.7784 km
    Laps: 64
    Turns: 15
    Start/Finish Line: Bullet Dot
    Sector 1: Dot #1
Sector 2: 350 meters after Dot 3, eg. 100 meters before Turn 8.

That was pretty difficult, the roads in Seoul aren’t what I was expecting!

Apologies to everyone for being a pain in the a: didn’t realize that Korea doesn’t support Pedometer..

Some great tracks already! I’m going to announce the winner on Monday evening (GMT): say 36 hours from now.

@andae23 I’ve seen a couple of peoples’ tracks outside the border for Seoul on the map, so I want to know if that’s okay before I design my own.

@matt90 The objective was to design “a track somewhere in Seoul”, so I’d prefer tracks inside the borders of Seoul.

Technically, Seoul is made up of several cities that have merged together. There is no clearly-defined border for where one ends and the next one starts. However, because of the situation with North Korea – technically, the North and the South are still at war and have been for nearly sixty years – the city is run as a special administrative region, which means the structure of the local government is slightly different to the rest of the country. If you zoom out, you will see a purple line encircling the city (though it in no way resembles a circle); this marks the boundary of the Seoul adminstrative area. If you switch to map view on my entry, you can see if your yourself. Since there were no rules that specified any boundaries to work within in the city, I just assumed that anything within that purple line was fair game.

To avoid any further confusion: these are now the boundaries:

I believe every entrant so far has built its track inside this area. Apologies for the confusion this has caused guys.

Mostly a very fast track, with a some decent overtaking spots and a more fiddly section as well, which includes some COTA-esque esses.

Changed my mind again. The last one was far too narrow in places. This will be my last one, I promise.

I will announce the winner tonight, which means that you can enter the competition within the next 10 hours. (or in PM’s case, you have 10 hours to change your mind :P )

Less than 2 hours to go. Can’t wait. :P

Last minute entry, I had a hard time finding good roads and this is something very Indy-roadcourse like and would need a lot of scraping paint.

Alright then, competition’s over – thanks everyone for entering!

Runners up were Polishboy808 and Prisoner Monkeys (in no particular order). And the winner is… @browny! Though the track is quite long, it contains all elements of a good circuit: high-speed stretches, fast and slow corners, and in my opinion it is the most practical circuit of all entered circuits. Next circuit’s location is your call Browny :)
