Oh, I almost forgot: you’ve all succeeded in designing a better track than Korea Internatiol Circuit! :P

Thanks @andae23 another win :D. Okay for this round lets try something different, and rather unusual. What are the three countries which are least likely to hold a grand prix anytime soon? Somalia, North Korea and Iraq, or could it happen? Its upto to you guys to design race tracks for one of those three countries. Goodluck, your going to need it

North Korea may be a little tricky, their roads don’t show up on the Gmaps pedometer!

@geemac – Switch to satellite view and use the manual plotting controls.

Mogadishu, Somalia. It starts at the base dot and runs anti-clockwise.

I initially did a slightly longer circuit which I’ve added below, but when I had a look at the satellite image of the track it seems one of the roads marked on the map was actually a dirt road…so I changed the layout a bit to maintain a modicum of realism in my Somalian GP circuit. ;)

Does building a track in the DMZ between North and South Korea count as a North Korean track on the basis that nobody declares it there’s ?

  • Profile picture of Browny Browny said 4 months, 4 weeks ago:

yes the DMZ is allowed, I’ve also decided to allow track in Iran to be designed

    Pyongyang, North Korea (clockwise)

A sweepy street circuit. It would require some reconstruction, but from what I can tell, most roads would be up to it. I couldn’t make a lot of typical street circuit corners, since most other roads are far too narrow. I wanted to use the tunnels-turned-into-bridges things, but that’s not really realistic.

    Mogadishu, Somalia (clockwise)

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5795702

Another street circuit, but due to the condition of the roads and not all of them being as wide and some 1km straights, I’d prefer to build something outside of the city.

    Purpose built circuit: (clockwise)

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5795703

Loosely based on the street track, I’ve made it pretty demanding, with virtually no straights and a lot of bends.

    Basra, Iraq (anti-clockwise)

I mentioned I don’t like really long straights, but this track would need it. A race around Iraq’s main port is cool and the roads are nice, but we know F1 drivers mostly get their cooling at high speed. Basra records 30 degrees on average in April, so you can imagine what the summer is like there. The roads are nice and bendy, there aren’t a lot of 90 degree corners, so I think this would be a nice race.

    Well, in that case …

    Tabriz Street Circuit (Iran)
    Anticlockwise, 6.0 km, 51 laps

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com?r=5795738

A bit to Tilke-esque for my taste, but I think it would still be a nice street circuit
