Hmm, that was slightly disappointing… gonna give it to @philereid, although I’m not quite sure if we should have a Ukrainian GP.. take it away! :)

Thanks @andae23. If you come up with the best design next time it’ll look like we’ve fixed it. ;)

Right, the seasons is soon to be starting its second half after the summer break. It has been decided that one of the upcoming circuits needs to be re designed, and this can be any of them.

    Rules:

    – Must be one of the 8 remaining circuits.
    – Pit straight must remain the same.
    – All modifications must take place inside the track compound, unless there is a clearly suitable way to use areas outside the compound.
    – Up to 4 areas of the track can be maintained the same (i.e a straight counts as one, corners count as one etc…) Cutting a straight in half does not count as using that straight, the same with modifying a corner to be different. Connecting straights between two corners that are less than 400m will not count towards the 4 areas (i.e. the straight between Pouhon and the following corner (Fagnes maybe?)

That’s it, have fun! Entries close before FP1.

OK, so here’s my redesign of the Yas Marina circuit.

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6413129

5.36km, Figure-8 (first half clockwise). Pit straight and first 3 (4?) turns are same, but the rest of the track is different. Instead of the first chicane, the track continues straight a bit longer before a slightly faster version of the hairpin. The first of the two long straights veers left and dives down under a bridge, before the drivers break hard for the chicane. The next portion of the new track runs on a slightly modified version of the existing track – but in reverse. A sweeping right turn brings drivers off the existing track briefly before braking hard for a sharp right-hander. This leads onto the second of the long straights – run in reverse – which leads to a chicane and then sweeper that brings drivers back onto the main straight.

COTA. The slow turns 12-15 have been replaced with a silverstone-esque priory-luffied corner complex. The hairpin up top has been widened, and the back straight leads to a mirror of 130R. The short straight after the silverstone complex leads to a fast right hander, similar to Catalunya’s Campsa, and then funnels down to a long sweeping left hander. Circuit runs anti-clockwise.

@qingwa You win this one! A very radical overhaul (as were the others) but also you’ve essentially removed everything that is bad about the Singapore track. It still may not be an overtaking paradise, but at least it looks fun now. It was close picking who one. The figure of 8 Abu Dhabi is a great use of the compound, very creative, and I think the CotA changes would work very well.

    Yay! thanks!
Anyway, some time ago were rumours that in Tri-city, Poland is supposed to be a f1 track,so you have to designate it,but
-because lack of funds at least half of the circuit must ba existing roads
    -roads can be widened
    -no buildings can be destroyed
-you must build in Gdańsk, Sopot or Gdynia or towns that are bordering them
    -entries close tuesday night

OK, so here’s my entry – a street circuit in Gdańsk.

    Circuit: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6416166
    Pitlane: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6416174

    Circuit is anti-clockwise, 3.55km, 16 turns.

The track starts with a quite tight-and-twisty section, a bit like Monaco but wider. Two 90° lefts, a quick swimming-pool-esque left-right chicane, then a tricky curved braking zone into the Turn 5 hairpin. Turn 6 and 7 should be a flat-out chicane (given the low speed Turn 5), followed by a slightly-faster-than-normal 90° right for Turn 8. This leads onto a long straight just over 1km long, with the flat-out kinks of Turn 9 and Turn 10 before a hard braking zone for Turn 11. Turn 12 is flat, then Turn 13 is a fast right-hander that would require a bit of braking, leading onto a shorter long straight about 700m long. Turn 14 is a kink in the straight, just before braking hard for Turn 15. A short straight leads to Turn 16, which would have a tricky curved braking zone that would be hard to nail.

The Pitlane has been designed to go through an underpass (that was designed for pedestrians, so would obviously have to be heavily modified) but that prevents an awkward pit exit on the outside of Turn 1.

    3.4km clock-wise circuit. 10/11 corners.

Pit-‘straight’ is the only part of the track that uses non existing roads. The grid would line up from very near the start of the curve, therefore possibly becoming the longest, if not close to, run down to turn 1. It then opens into the longest straight, at about 1km. Then a 90 right, onto a straight similar to Singapore’s longest straight. The straight ends at a quick left hander then right hander, like a long chicane, into a right and then another right onto the bridge. It then has another Singapore type straight but is much shorter. Then it turns into a sharp left, slowest corner on the circuit. Then a short straight down to the final corner, and right kink, but it wouldn’t be flat.
