@vmaxmuffin, no, I know, I just discovered that the perimeter roads around Heathrow resembled the outline of the Circuit de la Sarthe and wanted to share.

Anyway, here’s an entry that conforms:

    Dunsfold Park.

@VMaxMuffin Given that we’re just scribbling lines on google maps for fun, I’d say the rules are more of a guideline. Of course, you’re more likely to win by following them, but I wouldn’t disqualify a fantastic entry over something like length.

I’d like to thank everyone who submitted a track, it was very neat to see all of your different takes on the theme. Little_M_Lo’s (@pezlo2013) is my favorite. It’s relatively short and simple, but is varied enough to avoid being boring. It has a good mix of the straights you might expect, and some good corners too.

Shoutout to @VMaxMuffin for his very interesting choice of airport.

Lastly, here’s the circuit I scribbled up that inspired the airport theme: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6225571

    Thanks @kanil!

    Right…
Your next challenge is to get your dream holiday destination on the map of F1. You can pick any city in the world, but once someone uses that city, it cannot be used again, nor can you make a circuit in that is in the same state/region. (except for California and Miami, there can be 2 entries per state, as long as they’re in different cities)

    Some More Rules
    - It must be between 4.5 and 6.5km in length
    - It must be within 50km of the city’s CBD (or even on an all new manmade island for the creative ones). You should provide a link measuring distance from a CBD
    - You are allowed to destroy farms for your entry, but strictly farms only (no other roads/buildings etc)
    - It must feature 2 of the following
    – Sweeping 1st turn
    – Figure 8 design
    – A bus-stop chicane
    – Turn 4 as a hairpin
    – Last corner as a daringly quick kink (think of T7 OR T8 at Sepang

You have until the first Practice Session of the Aus GP starts
    good luck!

Sorry for the question, but what is CBD?

    CBD – Central Building Districts
The middle of the city, basically

This in an interesting one. Going to be difficult as none of my favourite places in the world are cities, so I’ll just choose a city from the same country :P

    @pezlo2013 when you say:

    - It must be within 50km of the city’s CBD (or even on an all new manmade island for the creative ones). You should provide a link measuring distance from a CBD
    - You are allowed to destroy farms for your entry, but strictly farms only (no other roads/buildings etc)

Does that mean it can’t be a fully- or partial-street circuit? Or does it mean that you can’t completely destroy roads, but you can modify them slightly like we normally do for street circuits?

Nevermind the above question, it doesn’t affect my chosen design anyway. Still, it’s worth answering.

Here’s my entry for the Grand Prix of Hawaii, on the island of O’ahu: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6228047

The track is 5.0km long, anti-clockwise and with the pitlane on the inside. The cars go under the overpass first (heading North-East) and over it on the second time (heading North-West). Although only 2 were necessary, my track actually fulfils 3 of the requirements – it has a sweeping first turn, a figure-8 design and a bus-stop chicane (Turns 10, 11, 12 and 13).

I don’t really have a dream holiday location, but I’d like to go to Canary Islands, so my circuit will be there

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6229488

It’s a street circuit in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, with a mix of long and fast straights and slow corners.

    Vilamoura, Portugal

Marina-side race, using the wide dual carriageway nearby for the pits and the fast bits, with a sweeping first right hander and a turn 4 hairpin. Also contains a tight chicane that’s situated right next to an actual bus stop and a kinky last corner

T1 is the right hander just after the 3km. It’s an anti-clockwise circuit.

    Criteria matched:

    1) Sweeping first turn.
    4) Turn 4 hairpin.
    5) Last corner as a daringly quick kink (Though this is maybe not correct, as it isn’t much of a corner).

@philereid Your track is very close to the old street circuit used for the ATCC in Wellington in the 1980s – see here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6233712

Just wondering if you knew about that? Obviously a lot has changed on the harbour front since the track was used because it didn’t run through the middle of buildings :P

I had absolutely no idea @vmaxmuffin :P Strange coincidence that one.
