    Round one Albert Park

    Car setup
    Front wing – 6
    Rear wing – 6
    Engine – 7
    Gearbox – 8
    Ride height – 5

    Strategy
    Qualify and start on option tyres
    Pit on lap 12 – a set of option tyres
    Pit on lap 27 – a set of prime tyres

    CONFIRM

    I know this isn’t asked for but here is my reasoning – maybe it’ll kick off some interesting chat :)
    - Circuit data says downforce is high so more wing is desirable but the circuit is fast so too much wing could be detrimental. Going to try and pit early into some free air and try to jump a few people at the first stop then run long….if the tyres last! @brazil2007 strategy looks amazing but I didn’t want to be a copycat

    @portugoose
    You’re not late. Everyone else is just early. :P

    However, the reason I replied to you is in question of your strategy. Are you sure you didn’t confuse Option (soft) with Prime (hard) tyres? Because I see you want to do a long distance with the Options, yet a relatively short distance with Primes. Is that your strategy or just a misconception?

    @mr-t Shhhh…. They’ll catch on :P

    @kingshark Oh, whoops! sorry about that. I mixed up the tires.
    Um, I’ll opt for qualifying on softs, switch to hards on lap 15, and then get another pair of hards on lap 38.

    @portugoose You should probably edit your original post to avoid confusion.

    @portugoose, no problem.

    What I find very interesting in this race is the diversity of strategy. I mean, looking at the chart, just about every strategy that could be chosen, has been chosen. I’m definitely going to have some fun writing the scenario for this race!

    What I find even more amazing is that Juan Pablo Heidfeld is planning his first pit stop on the same lap as Mr T is planning his last!

    Well, your car has very good straight line speed. Long revs and gear ratios put you on top on the speed trap chart. So it’s going to be very difficult for anyone to overtake you. Interesting strategy choice too, 31 laps on primes is taking quite the risk though!

    That is my setup and strategy for this race. /Confirm.

    If I’m honest, I actually think that this game is even better than mine. ;)

    @joey-zyla
    My game was inspired based on yours!

    Nonetheless, I’ve recorded your setup and strategy.

    Out of the 19 managers, 15 have already confirmed their setup and strategy for the Grand Prix. Four people have not done this yet (infernojim, Ice Truck Killer, Nitas & DJDisco).

  • Profile picture of Nicholas Sunderland Nicholas Sunderland said 6 months, 1 week ago:

    @infernojim @carlos-santos @djdisco @ic3man No rush, but remember that you need to post your strategy and setup by Friday. Once again, no rush, but it’s better to get it done early so that you don’t forget afterwards.

    @ic3man Interesting that you’re going for two sets of primes. That could make a significant difference due to tyre deg in the latter stages of the race.

  • Profile picture of Mr. T Mr. T said 6 months, 1 week ago:

    @kingshark haha with overtaking rated difficult I reckon it’s critical to get to the front so figure might as well take a massive gamble that track evolution, decreasing fuel load and switching to primes will mitigate tyre deg at the end of the race so I can run long and stay ahead of all the three-stoppers… Although knowing my luck this is where you step in and say those things aren’t included in the game model! So I am looking forward to reading that I have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in the last few laps :D

    @joey-zyla You are being too modest, I really wanted to join your game but was too late to sign up… although I’m still reading your race roundups and sort of playing vicariously through everyone else anyway!

  • Profile picture of I've had it I’ve had it said 6 months, 1 week ago:

    @mr-t Thanks. Since the game seems to be so popular I am likely going to add another league (like Formula 2) to the next season so instead of 24 players, there can be 24 in F1 and 12-16 in F2, so more people can play the game.

    @kingshark Just wondering, how do you determine who’s winning and who’s losing? Did you define the best setups for every race and the one with the right setup wins automatically? Or is there an amount of randomness and good or bad luck as well?
