@ newnhamlea1, I’m glad your family is taking a liking to Canada… Honestly I live in Hamilton which is about 6 hours drive from Montreal and I can honestly tell you that Montreal is the closest thing to Europe in North America especially when it has both French and English as national language (in that order). It is an amazing place to go during the summer time, lots of festivals and great fashion city. I myself is thinking about going to the F1 Grand Prix this year. Oh just a heads up if you or your family does end up in Montreal make sure you try few things… For food try Poutine and beaver tales (the last one is not actually beaver tales). For shopping go to St. Catherine’s street and visit Simon’s department store. Finally go towards old Montreal where the church and the festival squares are. Cheers.

To stay on topic with circuits around the world, if I was F1 schedule planner and I wanted world wide exposure, assuming all parties are willing… I will plan the follwing in order:

    1-Australia
    2-Malaysia
    3-India
    4-China
    5-Korea
    6-Japan
    7-Russia
    8-Turkey
    9-UAE
    10-South Africa
    11-Hungary
    12-Italy
    13-Germany
    14-France
    15-England
    16-Spain
    17-Canada
    18-USA
    19-Brazil
    20-Argentina

All of these countries have tracks that were and are being used not only by F1, but by other motor sport circuits. What do you guys think?

You many have noticed many of the new Middle-Eastern and Asian tracks are missing. THere is a good reason for this. Style over substance, and we all know it.

But there we are, Calendar with at least 1 race on all continents, a decent presence in North America (boath coasts, and the oval in the middle), classic European races, and 3 slots left open for various tracks on rotation, such as the Middle Eastern ones.

I’ve drawn up a list which I think would be realistically achievable by 2012/2014 a compromise between new markets and old classics.

1.Abu Dhabi – A grand flashy opening to the season (plus i only feel the need for one middle east race)
    2.India
    3.Malaysia
4.China – give it a bit more time to tap into that so far elusive promised market
5.Spain – preferably at Montjuich Parc but that is hopeful (Catalunya would do)
    6.Monaco
    7.Canada
    8.USA
9.France – Deserve a race at either Paul Ricard or Magny Cours or Paul Ricard
    10.Britain
    11.Germany
12.Austria – see if Red Bull has given the old Osterreichring any of its character back
    13.Russia
    14.Belgium
    15.Italy
    16.Singapore
    17.Korea
    18.Japan
    19.Australia
    20.Brazil
