F1 Fanatic

I took part in just a single Grand Prix in my career, in which I outqualified my Spanish teammate but later crashed out. After tests for Prost and Toyota I gave up on F1 and switched to a rather different form of motorsport where I had more success.

Ok, sorry for not being there when the other one was answered, but Nicolas Kiesa was the correct answer. He is currently a part of danish F1 coverage and is the commentator on practice and qualy. He also has a car tuning company of his own, he actually does very little racing anymore.

Ok enough about him. Another driver:

“I never drove an F1 race, but my name is still known by many outside of motorsport. I was a test driver in F1 in 1998, and I did some testing work again in 2000. I am still active, though I was severely injured in a crash in 2007.

OK. I competed in F1 for two years, did a reasonable job in my first year and scored a couple of points, had less success the following year and haven’t driven in an F1 race since, although I did a bit of testing the following year. Who am I?
