I have too many to choose from ever since I began to watch in 2002 (well, I don’t remember much from 2002 anyway).

    Australia 2003
    Brazil 2003
    Britain 2003
    USA 2003
    Belgium 2004
    San Marino 2005
    Japan 2005
    Hungary 2006
    China 2006
    Brazil 2006
    Canada 2007
    Germany 2007
    Japan 2007
    Monaco 2008
    Britain 2008
    Italy 2008
    Australia 2009
    Malaysia 2009
    Brazil 2009
    Australia 2010
    China 2010
    Canada 2010
    Korea 2010
    China 2011
    Canada 2011
    Hungary 2011
    Germany 2011
    Malaysia 2012
    China 2012

If I had to choose my top 3, it’d be Hungary 2006, China 2011, and Malaysia 2012.

The first few that spring to mind across different series:

    1989 Hungarian Grand Prix

    1998 BTCC Donington Park

2000 CART Michigan 500 (can’t embed this one):

(Note how much better team radio was in CART 12 years ago than F1 today – lots of it and in real time. Also a cameo performance from Tarso Marques the year before he was Fernando Alonso’s team mate at Minardi)

Lots of other great ones suggested by people above: Suzuka ’05 is probably the best of recent years I reckon, Canada ’11 was pretty special too, could have done with a bit less of the safety car though.

Oh my god, that Michigan 500 Cart race from 2000 is immense!! Those were the days hey! I still think of that race occasionally. Mega

My favourite race ever was quite unusual because I wasn’t watching the actual race at the time.

It was the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix. I had just moved house and my telly or internet hadn’t been sorted properly, so way I was keeping track of the race was by the F1 Fanatic live stream and my Twitter feed. I never saw any coverage of any part of the race that weekend. It was THE most exciting race I had never seen, ever.

I did get to check out the review of the actual race on Sky F1 this year, but that was the first time I’d ever seen any on track action from that race, and it just confirmed to me, that the race was in fact, an absolute stormer!!

2008 Silverstone for me. Purely because I was there. Last year’s Indianapolis 500 gets a shout from me too. Other races I rate highly include Jerez 1997, Nurburgring 1999, Spa 2000, Japan 2005, Brazil 2008, Monaco 2008, Australia 2010, Canada 2010 and most of the races in 2011 and 2012.

@raymondu999 I think you might be refering to France 2004 where Schumacher beat Alonso with the four stop strategy.

    @Pamphlet

I’d been rooting against Mark ever since that “Not bad for a #2 driver” event

I must admit, I did cringe at the time, but looking back, it was a good moment for F1. We need more of that, I think. And given the circumstances surrounding the weekend, his anger was completely justified, don’t you think? Why did you not like it, out of curiosity?

@damonsmedley Turkey 2009 is the main reason why.

It also pretty much threw Webber, a guy whom I used to like a while back, into the one category of people that I cannot and will not ever appreciate. Then again, I don’t think he (or Red Bull, or McLaren, or Ferrari, or anyone else) ever expected Vettel’s car to be so unreliable compared to his own.

This has got to be the best GP2 race I’ve seen – Lewis Hamilton charging through the field at Istanbul in 2006:

    Next four parts: 2, 3, 4, 5

This is how it’s done kids! The 1986 Australian Grand Prix.
Highlights, with Clive James The full race is available, in several parts – but the delightful FOM TV have removed the important bits.

This was the mother of all title deciders, I remember getting up in the night hoping to see my first British world champion.

    Always liked Silverstone 2010

    Also Canada 2011 & Brazil 2008

@Slr that may be it. Don’t really remember I’m afraid.

While no fan of Webber, the same has to be said about Hungary 2010.

@Pamphlet you mean when Seb was told “Save your car, Mark is faster?”

Being a fan of full-wet races too (races where dry tyres don’t feature) I loved Korea 2010 (Vettel’s engine failure sort of suppressed the memory of the race though) Monza 2008, China 2009, Silverstone 2008, Fuji 2007

There’s only a couple of races in the past few of years that deserve legendary status – Canada 2011 and Brazil 2008.

As for my own personal favourite race, Nurburgring 1999 has to be up there. It had everything. Frentzen led, went out. Coulthard led, went out. Fisichella led, went out. Ralf Schumacher led, got a puncture. The Ferrari pit crew couldn’t find a tyre for Irvine. Even poor old Luca Badoer retired just a few laps away from 4th place in a Minardi.

If you’re too young to have seen that race, get it watched! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8205498.stm
