F1 discussion
Sir Frank just going down to check the garages and stuff, got out ok
Frank Williams safe but covered in soot.
Pictures being shown on Sky F1. That was a MAJOR fire. Horrible to watch. People going into that were VERY brave.
Ted Kravitz looks very shook up. Medical Helicopter just arrived, no idea who it’s taking to Barcelona Hospital.
Heikki Kovalainen on Twitter: Couple of our guys got injuries, burns and maybe one broken wrist, no news on Williams guys I hope they’re ok
As just retweeted by F1 Fanatic: So several team members at the medical centre, 4 from williams and 1 from Force India
Not pretty http://yfrog.com/nzpddxtj
Thanks for the updates. I’ve tried to find a sky stream but can’t.
Sky coverage over now, I suggest we keep our eyes peeled on the twitter feeds.
Scary stuff, worst possible place there is for a fire.
Hope everyone is ok as can be expected.
Bravery of the highest order by those that battled the fire, great to hear that all rallyied to the cause in fighting it.
BBC 5Live not tweeting because no-one’s sure of injuries just yet
Sky caught the start of the fire on camera, there was a huge fireball in the garage. There was also what looked like falling masonry in the garage fire. One member of the Force India crew is being treated at the medical centre and there are some other people being treated.
I have to say though that the Williams garage has been completely gutted.
If this had to happen, at least it didn’t happen somewhere like Monaco. The damage would have been unbelievable had it happened there.
Hope no one is seriously injured!
Yeah, not sure what to make of Senna’s car. That picture doesnt make it look too bad, but I saw an image on Sky that made it look trashed
Yeah… thankfully, the pitlane is quite large here.
The BBC telecast of the fire:
This will probably be taken off Youtube pretty soon…
Sky were tactless naming the mechanic from Williams who allegedly has the leg burns. This is a friend of ours (the name Sky broadcast by the way is his nickname, not his proper name.) If his family have not been contacted but were watching it on Sky they must be besides themselves now. Our thoughts are with him and the other people that have been injured and we wish them a speedy recovery.
