a few of my favorite one:

How you can crash into a wall without it being there in the first place is beyond me

“Schumacher is still the fastest man on the track, not only by virtue of the fact that he leads the Australian Grand Prix, but he also holds the fastest lap”

“Bernie, it’s some 17 years since you bought McLaren, you’ve had some good times, you’ve had some bad times, what do you remember best?” Bernie replies: “I don’t remember buying McLaren…” Murray: “I’ve done it again”

    and this one is brilliant

No one does it like Murray, he certainly had his faults but he’s got that rare ability to make anything sound exciting.

Haha amazing! He’s absolutely bonkers! I’ve not seen that many of his old commentaries, but he seemed to get more excitable and more gaffe prone towards the end of his career. Perhaps it was ITV’s policy, or perhaps he got a bit senile with age, or perhaps both?!

My favourite one, although it doesn’t appear in too many compilations I’ve heard, is when Ferrari lost one of Eddie Irvine’s wheels during a pit stop in the 1999 European GP. Murray referred to it as “a major mal-misorganisational problem.” I may get that printed on a t-shirt.

    “a major mal-misorganisational problem.”

Haha, I don’t remember that! Perhaps it was overshadowed by Brundle’s commitee meeting quote on the same incident. Is it on any YouTube videos?

    EDIT: Here it is, @5.30

I must have seen these a million times but I can never resist yet another time. I’m glad he seems so happy pootling around motorsport museums (well, he does in the BBC videos) now he has all the time in the world to do so. I remember being a teenager and having my question answered by him on ITV-F1′s “Ask Murray” feature and feeling on top of the world, the guy is an absolute legend and it feels weird it’s been so long since he retired.
