i agree, calum. it seems heikki has been doing a good job developing the caterham team, but i’d like to see him in a fast car.

Can’t see any other than Perez or Massa getting to drive the 2nd Ferrari next year. Altough Hulkenburg has driven well this year, I can’t see him in the Ferrari yet. Kovalainen doesn’t have the raw speed i think, so he’s no alternative either in my oppinion. Perez would be the only logical option.

Kovalainen would be a risk. He’s done very well in a slow car, but needs to move back to the mid-field before graduating to a top drive. It is too soon since his unimpressive McLaren run for Ferrari to risk taking him on- although even then he was a better number 2 than Massa has been over the last 2 seasons.

Sky Deutschland is reporting that Massa will sign a new contract this weekend. What is their source? Has anyone heard this specific info?

On September 28th, Di Montezemelo said that he will make a decision on Massa in “Two or three days”.

Massa will probably stay at the Scuderia for another year (unfortunately if you ask me), and adding these two parts gives that Massa will sign a contract with Ferrari very soon.

Massa will stay one more year at least- he’s a good egg!!

    Remember ALMOST a world champion………………….

I’m actually hearing from some that Hulkenberg Ferrari is a done 1-year deal.

That would be nice. This whole Massa being Ferrari’s test driver in a test car was getting old. For 2013, Nico probably wont come close to Fred in the championship, at the end of the season, but he’ll at least keep him honest and challenge/beat him on occasions.

I hope Hulkenberg can get a place in Ferrari.

@Kingshark I’m tired of an uncompetitive Ferrari, period! Lol. Even Irvine/Barrichello (and old spec Massa, it has to be said) were competitive racewinners. Maybe not always, but on their day they were…

@raymondu999 – where are you hearing this Hulkenburg news? I would love to see him in red next year.

If it does happen, you have to imagine that Di Resta will be one unhappy boy – he was widely seen as the better of the two FI drivers this year, yet he missed out on the McLaren seat, and now his team-mate gets the Ferrari seat.

@dot_com I have a couple of friends in the paddock here and there – and they’re telling me that Paul was indeed negotiating with Ferrari, but he was the one that turned them down, as he was looking for a “multi-year” contract, while Ferrari was looking for a 1-year driver – basically, it would just become an opportunity to put yourself on the shop window rather than a career.

Paul di Resta is “widely seen” as the better of the two Force India drivers? @dot_com is that your opinion or a general one?

  • Profile picture of dot_com dot_com said 8 months, 2 weeks ago:

@magon4 – I think PDR has done a better job at FI this year – he has scored more points and seems to have the edge in qualifying. I personally think that Hulkenburg is quicker, but you’d have to say that Di Resta’s stock is a little higher right now based on his results.

Hulkenberg would possibly ruin his career by going to Ferrari for one year. He’ll come out at the end of 2013 having been out-raced and mentally destroyed by Alonso with no seats available in any top or midfield teams an be forced to drive in a bottom team until they ditch him for a pay driver.
