Is McLaren now the fastest car? (4 posts)

Picture it. McLaren are always there or thereabouts in the speed traps, and 9.9 times out of 10, is ahead of Red Bull in the speed traps. They also can generate loads of tyre temperature, which is usually a sign of an abundance of downforce. They matched Red Bull tenth for tenth in Hungary.

I think that actually now, the McLaren is the fastest car, bar none; except in qualifying, where their slightly less effective DRS bites them back.

I agree, Red Bull hasn’t won a race since Valencia and I think Mclaren has overtaken them. It is a bit like Brawn and Red Bull in ’09. Red Bull was faster in the second half of the season but it was too late for the championship. I think it is the same case with Mclaren this year

I think we need to wait until we get to some hot races, the ambient and track temperatures have all been quite low this season to date which has benefited McLaren more than the other teams.
