The BBC are now claiming that the heavy rain will continue until 8:00am/9:00am local time with light rain persisting from therein, with more heavy rain at around midday.

That won’t happen. If the race is called off because of heavy rain, it will not go ahead at all.

The only satellite animation I could find definitely shows the clouds clearing away from Japan. Based on how clear it looked in qualifying I think it’ll be a dry race.
