Can someone please explain to me why Jean did this – and what the punishment was! Been looking around for ages to figure it out but can’t find an article that even mentions it!

As far as I can google/wiki, he didn’t receive a penalty and he went on to win the race. As for the reason why he did it, I’m not sure.
