While you raise a good point that the blog may be too small, you have to keep in mind people with smaller displays on netbooks also need to be able to see the blog with a proper viewing experience. I feel there is less of an issue with the iPad as CIL should have some new stuff coming out for it. In any case I think it would be worth a look into changing the size of the blog in the web page, which is an adjustable setting.
With twitter I think there is room for improvement, but I am not quite sure how it would be implemented. It might be interesting to have it at the bottom, but I don’t think that implementation is available. So please if anybody who uses the blogs has any ideas please share them.
Also for reader moderation we moderators are limited to putting 25 posters on a list for unmoderated that is also shared with blocked posters. So for example if we ban one poster, then we can only put 24 posters in the unmoderated category. We do usually nearly run out of slots, and luckily we rarely need to ban anybody. While we have no official parameters for what constitutes a unmoderated member, as many have stated above you should have posted on a regular basis, and as long as nothing you write is way off topic consistently, vulgar, etc usually you will get unmoderated status. In terms of delay we try as hard as we can to keep up with comments, but often especially after the start or during a crash, etc we get significant amount of comments that all need to be scanned through and manually approved. Also there is often some system lag, but usually comments get published within 30 seconds to 1 minute when there is not a big backlog.
