I’m enjoying it, as Red Andy says the worst thing I’ve seen this year is the scrapping of the proposed 2013 aero regs, I dont mind the DRS for now, but not as a permanent solution.

Back to the racing, I looooove it. I’ve always been quite fond of strategic races since in worse years that’s all we’ve had to stop it being a procession, this year we have both strategy AND on-track action.

I have no time for people complaining about the easy overtakes, the only reason they were difficult before is because of the massive wake kicked out by the cars, if someone is on a different strategy they should be able to get straight past – look at any 80s race where someone changed near the end. The DRS seems to me to be un-needed now, thanks to the tyres being probably better than we’d hoped, although the hard tyre still needs more work to make it worthwhile using it.

So in short, yes I agree.

I would be interested to hear from those who don’t like DRS to give an example of where it has spoilt the season or ruined a result?

Personally I was in favour the first time I herd of it and I still am, you’ve only got to listen to the drivers about how they can now race each other instead of following closely behind to see what a success is and if they like it that’s good enough for me

Sure the sports all about making super fast proto-type cars but building cars is NOT a sport, the racing is the sport and without DRS there was no racing and therefore no sport!

If someone can come up with a better way of overcoming the negative affects of downforce I’m all for it but until then…keep your complaints to yourselfs

The Pirellis have been brilliant. Fast enough to keep proper F1 speeds but the way they fall away has been great. F1 races are now so rich like a pub meal, so much is going on – it’s brilliant. I don’t think it’s DRS, I’m sure it’s KERS and the tyres!

I’m disappointed they have scrapped the 2013 aero regs too, I was quite excited by them, Ground effect would be something new to me in F1 as well as turbo engines.

Apart from the title battle this season has been the best start to a season I’ve ever seen. All five races have been superb and the fact they’ve all been brilliant takes away from the fact the leader is so far ahead.

People will argue it’s a sport and not a show but personally I watch it to be entertained at this is exactly what 2011 is doing.

The DRS is good because it is impossible to overtake without it, apart from passes because of ridiculous pit stop strategies and tyres. Personally I prefer on track overtakes. DRS yes, 4 stops no.

The number of stops is getting a bit boring now, I have to admit. Somewhere like Barcelona they are needed because passing on track is very difficult but I didn’t see the need in Turkey. I hope Pirelli take note and adjust the tyre allocation accordingly.

I’m a fan of the number of stops. It adds another twist at the end of the race. In previous years the last 20/30 laps of a race were often pretty boring.

I really am enjoying it a lot. It’s very difficult to describe my feelings about this season, but it certainly (well, for me anyway) has a distinct/different vibe to it. I’m a fan of the rules, and to an extent, that includes the DRS. But the DRS debate is never going to go away, and I’ve read enough opinions to form my own opinion; and that is that I don’t have one! I’m not just sitting on the fence in an attempt not to uspet anyone, but there are arguments for both sides that have been well justified, such as Hairs’ thread from the other day, and Keith’s equally as convincing opinions on the main site. Basically, I told myself I would leave it until Spain before I would make up my mind, and I did (I decided I didn’t like it), but since then, I’ve seen enough evidence to turn me into a fan of it!

So that’s where I stand on the DRS issue. We’re never going to stop debating it!

2011 is the best season of racing I’ve seen in my entire F1-following life, and we’re only 7 races into the season!

15:23 Icthyes: You know what? Next year will be even better
15:24 Steph: I’m fairly optimistic for next year. It cannot be much worse after all and he’ll be more prepared for coming back than he was lastb year after eight months out
15:24 Icthyes: 5 champions, cars closer, awesome talent at the front
15:24 Steph: I’ll hold you to that Icthyes

Loving it more than any season I can remember, although I do hope the WDC becomes as close as it did last year.

I just went through all 43 pages of the forum to relive old memories. I thought I was sad, but the fact you found that makes me feel not so weird! :P

can’t stand the stewards personally. too many racing incidents becoming ‘under investigation’ then penalties given out like mad.

also an observation on the director- at the beginning of the race all the footage is fine, the cars battle around lap 1 and then lap 2 BUT just as the leading cars are approaching the DRS usable zone for the first time HE CUTS TO REPLAYS OF THE START!!! such poor timing.

That’s actually true. To be honest, sometimes I don’t think we need the start replays. And if we really do, the director should wait for a lull and then show them. I don’t care if I have to wait until the middle of the race!
