I was wondering about the pit lane entry in Monaco. There are yellow lines on entry and exit, and the strange thing is that nobody ever sticks to the pit entry line. It starts off dashed (why?) and then turns into a solid line. Does anybody know why they are allowed to cross it, or why it exists, and why it is partially dashed? Thank you.
I assume they are allowed to cross it because otherwise there’s no way they’d be able to make the turn into the pit enterance. As for why it’s there in the first place i don’t know.
I think they might be supposed to keep two wheels inside it, because that’s what I’ve seen happenning and it still allows them to turn into the pits. Really I don’t know though.
Just a guess, maybe the line isn’t the pitlane line but jut road marking?
Also remember few years ago when Perez cut off Raikkonen? Could’ve cost them both the race so maybe they should clarify it. Might lengthen the pitstop time seriously if they have to use that line as the entry speed will be much slower.
