I was in Paddock Club and I could catch a bit of it. Not head-on though but enough to get covered in f1 branded confetti. I wouldn’t be complaining anyways :)

@slr – I’m guessing that episode was a one-off affair. The guy in front of the podium probably saw it as a golden opportunity to get his face beamed live to the world.

It’s an improvement on the old cardboard looking podium but they definitely need to get rid of the digital screens and go back to real flags. As an Aussie I will remember for the rest of my life Mark Webber’s first Grand Prix victory with the anthem playing, the flag slowly being raised and Mark looking up at it. Some things just shouldn’t be messed with.

It’s a podium, a place where presentations are made, I’d prefer the FIA to save the money and lower ticket prices.

The FIA has no control over ticket prices. And even if they did and spent the money from the podiums on subsidising ticket prices, spectators would probably only get about $0.20 off the price.

I wonder if you have seen this:

At the podium at Singapore they’ve replaced the sponsors with images of past champions and a sentence that reads “History is made but the future is unwritten”

I don’t know if it is definitive for the race, but I think it looks rather good.

Let’s just hope the trophy is better than the last ones…
