I couldn’t think of another title for this so that’s why it’d a tad weird. And no, this isn’t about to be some ‘Harry Potter’-esque story kind of thing.

While the first Safety Car undoubtably ruined Nico’s race, while watching the BBC replay of the race (it was that good I just had too!) I noticed something I’d previously missed and was never picked up.

Upon exiting the pit lane after his stop during the first Safety Car period, Nico Rosberg left the pits behind Kevin Magnussen. And yet when the race restarted, he was ahead of Magnussen?

Surely that’s overtaking under the Safety Car? Did anyone else notice this or does anyone else have any more information? I suppose the deciding factor is to who crossed the Safety Car line at the end of the pitlane first, but I missed that.

I didn’t notice that but did anything happen with what looked like at least an unsafe release for Button.

@formula-1 – No, as far as I’m aware Button got away with it
