I’m a big fan of BBC4’s quirky quiz Only Connect. And, to their credit, they’ve had a few F1 questions on it in the past.
I thought it might be fun to come up with some more and put them on the forum.
First of all, if you’re not familiar with the programme you can have a look here (content may be UK-only):
Basically there are two main styles of question: What’s the connection, and Complete the sequence. Here’s two easy examples:
Q. What’s the connection:
Hawthorn, Hunt, Hill, Clark
A. All British world champions
Q. Complete the sequence:
Hamilton, Button, Vettel…
A. Vettel (consecutive winners of the world championship starting in 2008)
There are always four terms in each question.
OK so here’s one to get you started. The first person to get it right can set the next question:
Q. Complete the sequence
2, 22, 1…
2. Lewis Hamilton’s car numbers from 2007 to 2010.
Brilliant, love the show, especially when the F1 questions appear. Are you a fan because of the quiz, or because of Miss Coren?
@geemac So the answer is…
@matt90 Because of the quiz! I love her idiosyncratic scripts though.
2! First character in my post.
@geemac Sorry I missed it!
OK your turn to post a question…
Only Connect is just about my favourite telly programme! I got Will Buxton to have a look (via Twitter) a few weeks ago.
Looking forward to see F1 questions here…
Right, another numbers one:
0, 6, 2, ….
3 – number of wins Jenson Button has taken in the years 2008-2011
My go assuming the above was correct, complete the sequence:
Lewis Hamilton, Robert Kubica, Heikki Kovalainen, Sebastian Vettel
Mark Webber – new Grand Prix winners
Perhaps like only connect only 1 part of the sequence should be revealed, then the next part an hour or so later, with the final clue a little after that.
Great, here’s my sequence:
Fernando Alonso, Alex Yoong, Mark Webber,…
, Anthony Davidson – Everyone had their first race at Minardi?
