If Perez has a season next season like Massa did at Ferrari in 2006 I think he should be quite pleased with himself. 1 or 2 wins, some podiums and something to build upon for the next season. He is not the finished article by any means but he has a hell of a lot of potential. I do not see Perez beating Button next season, Button is vastly experienced now and has excellent racecraft even if sometimes his pace is a bit poor but Perez himself is not known for blistering one lap pace like a Vettel or a Hamilton.

Honestly Mclaren must be scretching their heads right now. Perez hasn’t really been that impressive in the 2nd half of the season, and the consistency has been terrible. Hulkenberg or even Maldonade with his great speed would’ve been a better choise for Mclaren in my oppinion.

Maldonado has been far more controversial and less consistent than Perez.

I’m also not surprised to see that the age factor is is once again ignored when comparing Perez to Hulkenburg, or Di Resta and Kobayashi for that matter. Nico Hulkenburg is more consistent, so what? The fact that he is 25 while Sergio Perez is 22 shouldn’t be ignored.

Funnily enough, despite being 3 years younger than Hulkenburg, and 4 years younger than Di Resta and Kobayashi, Perez has already achieved more in his career than most of these guys ever will, and by the time Perez is Kobayahi’s current age (26) he’ll be world champion already.

Anyone wanna bet? You can mark my words.

@Kingshark I’d take that bet (of Perez not taking a WDC by 2016).

I wouldn’t take the bet of Kobayashi achieving more though. He has always been overrated in my personal view.

Perez will be a champion by the time Alonso retires (2016). It’s on.
