To be fair to Heidfeld, not all of those were his fault. (Admittedly, the most embarrassing ones were!) A lot of his crashes were from his early days, presumably from the all-too-common “pushing too hard to impress in a rubbish car” syndrome (Piquet anyone?)
Going back to signature shunts, Jarno Trulli at Montreal’s Turn 1! Caught up in both of the 1998 lap 1 pile-ups (including ending up on top of Jean Alesi in the second one); wiping out Barrichello and Alesi there a year later; crashed with cold tyres after making a pit stop in 2007… and in more turn 1-related misery, retired before he even got there in 2004 after a transmission problem!
