Changes:
Sutil moves into the DTM with a Mercedes team; earns a senior Mercedes test role.

Barrichello is ousted in favour of Finnish talent Valtteri Bottas when the Kimi Raïkkönen deal does not materialize (this has been reported through an Italian source). Barrichello moves into Stock Car Brasil.

Jerome d’Ambrosio loses his seat to Pic; becomes a Renault test driver alongside Charouz and Korjus.

Grosjean replaces Senna, who becomes a McLaren test driver in place of de la Rosa.

Ricciardo and Vergne are promoted to STR seats at the expense of Alguersuari and Buemi, who become GT or Indy drivers.

Pic and Hülknenberg join the grid, respectively replacing d’Ambrosio and Sutil.

I think what James Allen meant to say was “sources telling me F1 fans should keep your eyes on Twitter and websites this evening to see more overhyped Kimi Räikkönen rumors.”

I hope it’s settled sooner than later so we don’t have to hear a whole winter of unfounded rumors. Props to Marussia for making their announcement nice and quick. Wonder if HRT will pick a second driver in time for testing.

@portugoose – These rumours have come up before, back when Raikkonen was first rumoured to be talking to Williams. Nokia have already said they’re not interested in Formula 1. The aforementioined Twitter madness is just people re-posting what someone else has said. I find it very suspicious that Raikkonen spends months in negotiations with Williams, but then sings with Renault in a matter of days of the Williams talks falling apart, and all with the backing of a sponsor who has given a blanket “no” response to entering Formula 1. I’d say it’s probably just Raikkonen’s fans trying to convince themselves and the world that Raikkonen will race in 2012 now that Williams have given up on him.

What has me interested still is Rubinho’s spot at Williams. I think with the departure of Sam Michaels and Patrick Head from the side, there will be “change” afoot at Williams. I think they’ll change it up and try something different. So seeing as their previous strategy is to have 1 experienced and 1 debutant, I think that Rubens will not be asked back next year if they want to shake it up…

It all depends on the direction Williams takes for next year… But still hanging out to see what happens.

Of the seats yet to be decided, here is who I think will get them, and then who I think deserves to be there.

Lotus: Grosjean, he deserves a chance alongside Kimi.

Force India: Di Resta and Hulkenberg, though it’s stupid to get rid of Sutil.

Toro Rosso: Alguesari and Buemi should stay. I think they will.

Williams: Sutil and Maldonado. Maldonado should get the boot, Sutil should join Barrichello, it would be a strong lineup.

Caterham: Kovaleinen and Vergne. I’d keep Trulli for consistency and experience, but RedBull dollars are so powerful.

HRT: De la Rosa and Riccardio. De la Rosa will give HRT experience and guidance, not as dumb a move as many would think. Riccardio will stay, be okay, not as strong as Liuzzi would be.

Marussia: Pic is confirmed to be there alongside Glock. They should pick up Petrov instead, provided LRGP give him the boot. A experienced Russian driver in a “Russian” team would be a boon to an organization who’s only meaningful achievement is being able to hold onto Glock’s talent and mostly waste it.

@mike-e – it’s long been suspected that Renault might “encourage” a customer team to take a Renault-backed driver (with Caterham being the popular choice), but the problem with that theory is that Renault no longer have any factory involvement in any of the teams. They just provide them with engines. Even though Eric Boullier is team principal of “Renault”, they haven’t actually been Renault for two years, and nobody in Renault proper has any direct connection to the likes of Grosjean.

Interesting to note, HRT haven’t named DelaRosa nor have they named an engine supplier.
I’m guessing it’s HRT laziness and disorganization rather than any true indicator of their
current position.
