it’d be nice to have a Dutchman in F1 again

@npf1 Hopefully Frijns gets a seat for 2014 and hopefully de Vries follows a few years later. Not sure whether van der Garde deserves it, especially with so many younger and more talented drivers still seatless at this point.

Bianchi has emerged as the leading candidate for the Force India seat, according to Turun Sanomat. As @npf1 pointed out, this is due to Force India’s desire to switch to Ferrari engines in 2014.

Bianchi’s promotion would leave several hopefuls without a drive. Blick’s Roger Benoit says Ferrari is trying to lure Buemi into a testing role in order to extract desirable Red Bull secrets from the Swiss.

Kamui Kobayashi will now compete for the Lotus seat, which may or may not be available. It’s odd that Grosjean hasn’t been retained yet and the team apparently missed a deadline to reconfirm him in order to prolong discussions. In an interview with Autosprint, Davide Valsecchi has claimed he is the favourite to replace Romain Grosjean at Lotus.

Dutch website F1Today, whose rumors are hit and miss, claims Sebastien Buemi has made significant progress in negotiations with Force India. They claim ‘sources in England’ have told them this.

In other news, Gutierrez has once again claimed he doesn’t feel ready for F1. Dutch people can be either very harsh on their drivers, or too positive, in this case, leading to some people thinking Frijns may be used by Sauber to put Gutierrez under pressure the moment he sets a foot wrong. A little far-fetched, but I have to admit I’m not very impressed by him saying he’s not ready in two separate interviews.

Too be honest I personally don’t think Di Resta has really ‘wow’ed enough for him to retain his seat but I doubt he’ll end up losing it.

I’m also starting to think that maybe a Grosjean deal isn’t set in stone because, well, how long does it take to resign a driver when its all laid out in front of you?
although then again, remember how long it took them to sign Petrov at the end of 2010 for 2011?

If you can read russian, you can clearly see that, as expected, Chilton will be at Marussia next year.

Now that Grosjean is ‘champion of champions’, will he finally be confirmed at Lotus?

Sutil is saying that his conviction won’t be a problem and that he is still in the running.
I’m hoping the 5th best driver of 2011 will be back on the grid for 2013.

I know it’s been said before about the idea of Sutil unable to drive in certain countries, but according to him at the ROC last weekend, he’s been cleared to race at every event on the 2013 calendar.

I can honestly see him racing at Force India now just from that bit of information.

  • Profile picture of magon4 magon4 said 5 months, 1 week ago:

I would hope so, @bosley, but it is looking like Bianchi to me. Sutil was also hoping for a Ferrari seat early in the season; he tends to be optimistic in his communications with the media. I do feel he has a chance, but not a big one.

  • Profile picture of Anthony Bosley Anthony Bosley said 5 months, 1 week ago:

Personally if it were up to me, i’d take Sutil who we know performs well, and take on Bianchi and do away with Di Resta or at least put him back in a testing roll, but i doubt that.

With so many drivers, at least 5 per seat its tough to guess who’s going where.

It seems that the indian news agency “Ians” has inside sources telling them that Vijay has decided to bring Adrian Sutil back to Force India. Let’s see.

Eddie “Mr. Exclusive” Jordan is reporting that Max Chilton has signed to race for Marussia. Andrew Benson has backed it up on his Twitter account.

With both Carlin GP2 seats having already been filled and neither of them by Chilton, it became obvious he would take the second Marussia seat a while ago.

  • Profile picture of Anthony Bosley Anthony Bosley said 5 months, 1 week ago:

It’s weird having 3 seats left and genuinely not knowing who will get the drives since all the obvious choices have taken place ala Grosjean and Chilton.
