Bianchi has emerged as the leading candidate for the Force India seat, according to Turun Sanomat. As @npf1 pointed out, this is due to Force India’s desire to switch to Ferrari engines in 2014.
Bianchi’s promotion would leave several hopefuls without a drive. Blick’s Roger Benoit says Ferrari is trying to lure Buemi into a testing role in order to extract desirable Red Bull secrets from the Swiss.
Kamui Kobayashi will now compete for the Lotus seat, which may or may not be available. It’s odd that Grosjean hasn’t been retained yet and the team apparently missed a deadline to reconfirm him in order to prolong discussions. In an interview with Autosprint, Davide Valsecchi has claimed he is the favourite to replace Romain Grosjean at Lotus.
